Training Booster Megathread

Buddy - I’ve played this game longer than you. That is definitely the main reason why we shot up Jita.

For example - check this guy out with his post that aged like milk.

Of course you have.

Eh, no. As @Mkikaden_Tiragen says,

Yes, CCP is effectively going back on their word. As they have done many times before, and will do again. Times change, the game changes. And CCP really doesn’t care about what you think - only how much you pay.

Effectively, some players have always felt their length of time in the game gives them an advantage nobody new can ever catch up to. CCP is taking steps to provide a playing field where, if not actually even, at least anybody who wants to get an extra advantage has to hand CCP some cash for it.

The problems with the game aren’t based on who gets how many SP from what source. The problems with the game are based on how the game is designed and played. Focus on real issues and forget about clinging to your little pile of privilege as your ‘right’.

If you’ve spent years in the game, your value comes from your knowledge of and connections in the game, not from who created the SP you’ve injected along the way.

For those who haven’t bothered looking: the 1.5m SP pack is a pack - that means it is one time purchase per account, like the silver/gold/platinum packs that are already out there (and already offer SP in them), meant to help new players jump-start their gaming experience if they have spare cash to burn on it. It’s not a replacement for ongoing SP supplements from the extractor/injector market. It’s just like the 1m SP new accounts get when they follow a referral link - and unlike the referral links, anyone can get it instead of just players who got a word-of-mouth referral to the game.

This is not the end of the world (EVE or otherwise) - simply a way to help get new players invested in EVE, fiscally and psychologically, in the hopes that by having a little more SP up front they can get into the aspects of the game that interest them right off the bat and are more likely to stick around as long term players.

Unless you’re posting on an alt - yes, I have.

2010 to my 2008.

Time is hard.

edit: lmao man my sight is getting bad - you’re a 2018?

Post on your main, or if this is your main just lmao.

CCP trying to increase their revenue isn’t bad by itself. I just hope their strategy won’t devolve into the kind of practices we generally associate with the mobile/gacha/korean MMO market.

I don’t know about you - but buying XP (SP) for cash is what I associate with mobile/korean games.

This pack is not aimed at new players. It’s aimed at the 80M+ SP characters, for whom it is better value. Just the sort of characters who might belong to an alliance and who might be fighting a war. The timing is almost too convenient, for all sides…

No, its aimed at credit cards.

If it was aimed at war players, it wouldn’t be a 1-time purchase. And do you really think CCP is even capable of deploying anything new in under 3 weeks?

It’s better value for people with high SP, that’s the bottom line.

Anyway, the fact this is a one-time purchase means it’s not an absolutely terrible thing for the game.

We used to have the 1 mil SP starter pack so nothing really changed.

For $35 less.

Because 1.5mill SP means something in EVE?

Winning takes a bit more than SP.

Oh yes, but the whole “EVE is Doomed today” is silliness.

It definitely means something when you’re 1.5mill SP short of a skill that you want, particularly if having that skill sooner rather than later would be advantageous.

In what, a theoretical 1v1 battle with similar hulls?

Let’s stick to reality.

Whoever has the bigger blob wins.

But if the smaller blob has more SP per character than the bigger blob, it can change the outcome. Sometimes.

In any case, EVE is a game of numbers, not skill.

I think Manic said it well a few months back.

If you care what I think, as a player? Yeah this is a continuance of what started with injectors and the beginning of skill farms. Which some folks excused as ‘just a way the same as the character bazar’

Manics vid hit the nail on the head. Each thing has the same excuse . . .the same reasoning but it just a little further down the line. And thus we have the frog, well cooked.

If CCP wants money, they should allow players to request custom ship skins for $1000 each. Let them become Jovians for $5000. Custom Covid mask color for $10,000.
