Unfortunately they’re not all coming from the same IP, that’s why it’s called a Distributed Denial of Service attack. The actual ‘calls’ are coming from thousands of different infected PC’s and all sorts of totally insecure ‘Internet of Things’ devices (from light bulbs you can control from your phone up…) Figuring out which calls are coming from your customers and which are from the attackers is far from trivial.

Unfortunately, fully writing out an abbreviation is often lost on Runa. Not sure if it is helpful to emphasize that the word “distributed” is within the term.
No I realize that but you can block each IP that is hammering your server with BS requests…

DDoS is insanely difficult to fight.
Cloudflare has a great primer on all the different ways DDoS can be done these days. Amplification / reflection attacks are especially horrible since they both generate truly massive amounts of traffic, and generate traffic from sources that aren’t directly associated with known or suspected bot nets.

Figuring out how to do a DDoS is not rocket science.
If some script kiddie is able to do it, I suppose the eve community with their “big brains” should be able to figure that one out.

I just installed EVE on my Notebook … downloaded 2.5 GB … added the Account … but when I try to login to play, it fails and tells me that it has not received a response from the server …
But on my Desktop it is possible to login and play normally …
What is happening?
By any chance, the Server is refusing to login to a new installation and is accepting the connection from an older installation !!!
Edit…: Later it ended up working !
Some of those same IPs could be customers as well.
