And there are reasons for that - there are too many minerals in the game and not enough destruction. Also bots.
To my knowledge those players who wanted adapted to them long time ago and were/are hunting them solo. They are just NPCs with stats closer to player ships - harder than common garbage rats but not unbeatable.
Mining operation in a system with recon trigs should really be moved to another system if you have no means to protect.
