Another update, more than two weeks on, and things are, mostly, returning to normal. The detonation of the falling chunk was successful, turning a good proportion of the rock into atomized dust, and reducing the final kinetic impact significantly, though extensive seismic events were still registered for many kilometers around the initial extraction and re-impact site.
For the time being, archaeological work on the surface will resume in more traditional fashion, and all currently extracted ruins and artifacts will be opened to interested parties to examine in the coming weeks at the Orbital Yard.
