Just wanted to take a moment to encourage everyone—myself included—to help foster a forum environment that supports open, respectful discussion. EVE thrives on diverse playstyles and perspectives, and we all benefit when the conversation stays fair and consistent, regardless of who’s speaking.
Flagging posts simply because we disagree doesn’t make an argument stronger—it only signals discomfort with disputatio aperta. Weak ideas should fall to better ones, not be hidden behind moderation tools.
Even when we disagree—especially when we do—the space must remain level, open, and inviting. Everyone deserves the same opportunity to share ideas without being drowned out, mischaracterized, or flagged into silence.
What are some ways we, as a community, can better support that kind of healthy discourse?
The community can flag posts for a variety of reasons, it could simply be not posting in the right sub-forum. Moderators do go through and unflag stuff that is not breaking any rules, or moves a topic and unflags, or contact the user with steps or reasoning as to why it was breaking rules. Moderation is key to keeping discourse civil and it’s always best to discuss any matters directly with the ISD who reached out.
If you find your posts are getting flagged, because you are spamming the forum with trite nonsense, it is advisable to recycle your alts every few months so you can continue spamming without anybody realizing you are the same person. It’s like the old saying, “Wherever you go, there you are…” except in this case you pretend otherwise. Good luck capsuleer, and fly SAFE!
Honestly, you remind me of a guy who always said that he just wanted to have a polite conversation about game mechanics, such as ganking in HIghsec and griefing of new players by me. I eventually had to block him, and then he biomassed. I’m sure he had a lot more to say, and I can’t wait to see the next chapter in your story!
Getting flagged is pretty much a right of passage on the forums. I probably get flagged at least once a week. Why? No idea - don’t care. Make sure you get fitted out for your straightjacket and enjoy your stay…
