My 4 to 100b isk ship just cost me some trivial amount of isk… I should go get it into a fight because losing 4 to 100 bil is obviously better than paying a tax for it to sit in the hanger.
Right?
Again… for people who have these ships, the cost is trivial. If it’s not trivial, it’ll never happen because CCP likes players having options.
If you want to get people to use these ships more often (which is a goal I support!) you need to find ways to make them more influential in a fight. You need to make them so pivotal that it’s almost a given someone will be bringing caps… and if someone is, the other needs to if they want to win.
It’s not a good idea to bring realism into the equation when concerning a SF-MMO. EVE is bad enough already without adding more bad stuff like the OP’s immersion tax to it.
I think a far better idea is to abstract away maintenance costs like our invisible crews and not think too hard about it. And oh wow: EVE already does it. Case closed, everyone is satisfied.
You just want to push people to increase their inventory by stockpiling repackaged hulls and mods cause everytime I dock I have to repack the thing to reduce my isk lost while I’m not using that ship.
Wierd. I’m fine to pay parking fees but not for the price of my shops became obsolete.
Where you guys are coming from with all such a crappy thoughts?
harsh , just trying make the game better
You didn’t describe how this make game better.
So most of highsec (which already makes pathetic isk/hr) pays someone else to fix its ships or an NPC corp, while nullsec makes some out of alliance citadels and cycles the ISK right back to itself.
Better idea, ships decay, period, eventually needing replaced.
Don’t they get their fuel form the solar panels and duct tape?
Yes, I also disagreed with upkeep on a docked ship. I did disagree with this, didn’t I? If I didn’t before, I do now
Yeah, so I disagree.
Even sci-fi still needs certain levels of suspension of disbelief.
I do like logistics, so I like ideas like fuel and repair costs.
There are no quality differences between one ship and another. Perhaps fat alliance wallets could afford to hurt a little when they undock their rusty ships which have been mothballed for years without maintenance. Just ask the Russian navy what the cost of not maintaining a fleet is.
and the poor sob just getting back into the game should simply not bother
There already is ship maintenance. It’s carried out by the crews we already have. I’m not paying them to sit around doing nothing you know?
Want to reduce the number of capitals?
Simple - make them easier to be destroyed. Maybe by nerfing them, maybe by some specialized counter.
But then again - why?
There is nothing you can do about large groups sitting on a mountain of capitals. No (reasonable) amount of upkeep would change that. Just looking at the initial cost tells you this. When they are able to build huge fleets they will always be able to have access to huge fleets.
An upkeep system would only make it harder for the smaller groups or people with a life not able to farm ISK 24/7 (slightly exaggerated - just slightly ).
Maybe capital ship owners should consider having savings in their accounts instead of being broke 24/7. And nothing stops him from performing insurance fraud or getting the money to rearm&repair from whatever alliance he is part of.
Your sensationalist rhetoric is so tiresome. Do you want capitals to have free jumps without a need for cyno next too?
why? these are not all that expensive of ships. i mean FFS i have T2 cruisers that cost more than some of my capitals after fittings and T3cs are regularly on par with them.
there is no reason to add something like this in the first place it does nothing but hurt the little guy
Yeah
no poors please
Which is it mate, are they cheap or too expensive?
what?
hmmmmmmmmm
hmm what?
they are cheap enough that its not strange for some one to have one and still not have all that much isk in their wallet to pay your random ass maintenance fees.
plenty of people have a cap or two that almost never have more than 1b in their wallet
That’s their problem for owning things they can’t afford. When moee-8 was falling I didn’t wait around I jumped my caps out and sold them (for more than they’re worth) rather than lose money on the parts sitting in hangar for years without movement.
Maintenance fees make more sense than 2.25bil t2’s man wtf are you smoking
