Vastly more productive High-Sec Ganking thread

Maybe I did not express it well in the middle of the night.

I don´t really care about reducing ganking in high sec. I am just looking at the whole thing from the perspective of somebody who lived exclusivly from piracy in low sec from 2003 to around 2007 when this livestyle became less and less viable and then saw lots of pirate groups shift from low sec into either suicide ganking or joining wardec corps, which lead to a rise to ppl killing stuff in high sec either through wardecs or ganks, because they had no choice but to swap to high sec if they wanted to make profit PvPing.

Personally I found those times a lot more entertaining as it was kind of a mix of ganking haulers, but also fighting other Pirate groups over 0.0 alliance supply lines and some skirmishes with those alliances themself, but there still was the opportunity to sustain the playstyle without krabbing.

This just changed when capital ships etc became so common that anything of value pretty much skipped over lowsec forcing ppl into high sec to even slightly maintain that playstyle. While ganking already existed back in those days. It was not as organised or a full time playstyle.

And no matter if it reduces ganking in high sec or not. I would love to see a return of that playstyle, but would imagine that it would reduce the ganking in high sec as a side effect. Either way it would not take away the ability to gank, but gives ppl more options to play the game differently, which in my book is a win win situation.

However this is just a big dream as alliances would throw a huge tantrum if their easy logistics chains would be broken ;).

There’s a scale of how right you are, you don’t even know the full extent.

You probably believe is up to CCP to just fix it, but there’s another 20% increase of rightness in your post you don’t see, which is: shady actors took that game style for them making it impossible for non credit card warriors with 20 alts to enjoy so they can use only for their own selves compressing all “common” ppl into HS.

The irony of the situation is to be appreciated… The dangerous space is actually the safest, but only for the chosen ones.

CCP don’t have a clue how to fix that. They can only let other groups organize themselves and sort it out.

If abusive EVE was intended or a unfortunate side effect, now it’s just convenient to just call it a feature. But it’s a shame low sec is a more secure space than HS, because game mechanics allow these people to call it home against any uninformed average joe that just want to play and can’t barely get past the gate.

While these people manipulate and farm all the resources for themselves like true industrialists. Same goes for WH and NS, which at some extent have an idea of sovereignty, while LS is just like the slums where a criminal faction took the control where the state does not act. The analogy would be in place, IF LS wouldn’t be so productive and rich… Meaning the pirates don’t make a living from stealing people, but from working on the clock to extract resources, while NPC stations provide for organize action against them.

WILD to say the best, kinda dystopian. I bet it’s so safe, if you get your cloacky you can put some video of the bots calmly working on the resources. While your bad ass pirate is sweating on those exploration sites, like a true warrior… HACK THAT CONTAINER BRO! You savage, lol.

Wot?

There’s dozens of Lowsec corps and alliances which are all actively recruiting, sure some require a number of SP, or particular skills, or alts who can and will logi, etc. But there’s others whose entry requirements aren’t particularly onerous, and there’s corps for every persuasion, PvP, PvE, Mining, Industry etc. none that I know of demand you own a credit card or have 20 accounts.

I don’t know why people stay in highsec, I guess you can find backwaters to live in and use hauling corps to move stuff to market if you can’t work out how to avoid the gankers yourself and maybe that feels safe and effort free, i.e. you don’t need to talk to real people or acknowledge they’re playing the game with you.

But that’s the beauty of EvE, no? It’s a multiplayer game where players regularly and continually interact with each other. Everywhere in EvE is safe, until it suddenly isn’t, and even if you’ve taken all the care you can to be a safe as you can, there’s still a chance that it won’t be enough. i.e. it’s a game with consequence, where the outcome is never certain.

The “common” people can band together and become something more, should they choose to.

I didn’t mean credit card like that, I mean like buying your own alt fleet.

Hmmm… Do you mean something like making an effort?

That idea was already out the window when I started in 08. Tbh, that didn’t seem as necessary back then. Griefing wasn’t as big a sport as ganking is today. And correct me if I’m wrong as I can only speak from my experience, not being much of a miner. But miners seemed to work more closely back then. I used to give free boost (donations accepted of course) while giving combat cover as well. Then local went dark.

This is exactly how it was when i made my first account in 2008. Your description fits perfectly.

My first mining experiences were in huge mining fleets supported by other corpies in their combat ships. I looked ridiculous in my little bantam mining ship next to all those huge exhumers.

Great times those were.
