Version 19.08 - General Feedback

have you tried turning down the options for character rendering?

Quick question. What’s the refresh rate of your monitor?

can u just simply replace all the red and blue buttons with the blue cross hover button that u get in the upper right of the skill info window? that would actually solve 50% of the issues with this UI. the other 50% is that its graphically not well designed. too much wasted space. too big icons. too much scrolling because of too thick rows. also it doesnt have clear borders, cant be used in smaller window mode while doing something else. did u recruit mobile game UI designer or what??

The new skills UI was obviously made for tablets. This isn’t EVE Echoes, in case you haven’t noticed, CCP…

One could even do assumptions based on Steam hardware survey and that does not look good.

okay, in order

  1. I agree and it is in my notes for feedback I am putting together
  2. You may not know this but I was the one who thought this advertising should be removed from career systems and this was one of MY things that I asked for. Personally I think Barges could be banned from those systems as well.
  3. EVERYTIME there is a big change I ask for a ‘do not want’ button. Sometimes we get it, other times we do not.

I am always afraid to play with that button, perhaps removing low quality characters might cause me to be deleted.

I have the ‘green book’ I keep eve notes in out and am making notes from here and in rookie chat. I actually have asked that people send me eve mails if they do not use the forums much. I am actively making a list to take to CCP.

CCP reads this and R/eve and so my polling in rookie chat is to get newbro reaction along with that of the regular helpers in there.

If there is something else you think that I should be doing, feel free to suggest it (within reason of course) ((look at me, asking Eve players to be reasonable))

LOL. You’d be pretty low on the list to be deleted in that case Mike.

could you please convince CCP to hire at least one graphics designer who understands his craft?

I guess I am a lucky one because I don’t have that feature.

Horrible character sheet. I can’t find anything. What problems were we solving by doing this?! This has to be some misguided attempt please change it back or at the very least let me reset it to default old window.

You’re fine. Peligro and Falcon might get doomheimed though…

You are talking to them now. Yes, some of you don’t like it. I’ve pointed out the concerns folks have had.

But my opinion is that I like it.

I’m sorry that you can’t get your head around it. Suffice to say, not everybody likes everything, and this is one situation where tastes vary. I like the changes, albeit I know there needs to be fixes because there are acknowledged bugs.

I don’t think so. I think there are some slight tweaks and bug fixes and it’ll be fine.

My taste is exquisite.

Look guys, I understand some people really don’t like this and that’s to be expected, because it’s changing something that’s been the same for a decade or more. I’m going to pass on the useful feedback and hopefully we can get some changes, but the folks who want a reversal etc are likely going to be disappointed (to quote a fellow CSMer on a completely different subject).

I’ll get use to the new UI in time but my biggest complaint is that the when you selected a skill you have yet to train to, it used to show how long that step would take before you added it to the queue. Now you don’t see it until you add it to the queue. This really needs to be added back to the UI somehow. How long a skill step will take is important in determining where I would place it in the queue.

Thanks

This is sarcasm. It’s not me who thinks this but CCP. If it were for them, they would also not have included the Attributes in the tooltip for the skill categories because they don’t think that’s necessary.

They should just bring back walking in station in 64bits and be done with it…
As it currently stands, why buy apparel if you can’t use it anywhere ?

https://support.eveonline.com/hc/en-us/articles/202748741-System-Requirements

The minimum screen resolution for the EVE Online Client is 1024x768

Just like the Daily Login Campaigns and Agency UI’s, the character and skill UI’s are not optimized for this resolution.

You post minimum requirements, then ignore your own standards.
You ask for feedback, then ignore it.

basic signs of a dysfunctional and abusive relationship here…

What are you talking about? This has nothing to do with “change is bad because it has been like XYZ for a decade”. The char sheet skill menu has been there for only a few years, first of. Secondly, the new skill window does not allow you to see more. It only shows you less. If you want to see more skills than before, you have to make the window so huge that it hides literally everything else on screen that is more important to see than skills. If you don’t do that, the window displays significantly fewer skills and the queue layout obstructs a ton of information (as shown in countless screenshots). For instance, with the smallest possible window size I only see 8 skills and all skill categories In the old menu with a similar window footprint, I saw 16 skills, more skill related information, and all categories. The new skill window does not allow that unless you hide everything else on screen and even then it shows less information.

The skills were ordered alphabetically sorted in the old skill window, and the skill categories were sorted in logical groups that made SENSE. There is no point in having the largely irrelevant Corp Management category right below the Armor category and Shield on the far end of the list in return, even though both belong to each other as they for the same kind of skills. The auxiliary information for skills was also much more comprehensive than it is now. IT is completely irrelevant that CCP wants to get rid of Attributes because they HAVE NOT done that, which means the information on different training speeds, on total SP needed for skills, better skill level display in the queue and a less confusing time display in the queue are not just “acknowledged bugs”, they are fatal flaws. But despite knowing all that for weeks, CCP shipped this trainwreck anyway.

Then you are on your own.

Come to think of it: This would be another amazing opportunity for CCP to give us a survey on the char selection screen to objectively figure out what people think about this new skill catalogue (I don’t care in the slightest about skill plans. They have bugs on their own anyway :joy:) and reward us with SP. What happened to this feature that CCP announced with great fanfare months ago but never used again? Other games like those from Riot do survey for literally every god damn change they introduce. CCP has a system in place to do the very same but – just like they don’t listen to feedback until you hammer it into their thick rotten shark skulls – they adamantly refuse to use the tools.

Your taste is demonstrably crap. As evidenced by your posts in this topic.
