I have the same issue. Also the crate window stays open even if you leave the site , I had to relog to get rid of it… Stellar !
I noticed that with the Capsuleer day sites, only the player who lands the killing blow on the battleship gets credit towards their rewards track. This disincentivizes team play. Anyone flying logi gets screwed and this just pushes us towards doing these sites solo. I find this disappointing, I was looking forward to hosting fleets to run this stuff together but I’m losing interest on running these with my corpmates pretty fast. We’re all figuring out that we might as well just do these things solo.
It is not who landed the final blow but who did the most damage, I’ve tested it extensively with two chars. You are right however about the event not supporting teamplay as only one person can get points for the boss kill.
The reward for grinding 1200 event points has to be a joke. A single reputation booster that’s worth not even a few 100k ISK. This has to be a new low for CCP skinner-box-developers.
Why do people always need rewards… the game used to be a sandbox years ago. that was far less stressful
It’s not about “needing” rewards. It’s about the quality of the rewards being offered. That’s not just a semantic difference. What’s the point of offering higher value rewards for lower reward track tiers and make the final reward a worthless object that’s not even worth the energy expenditure to click the Trash button?
The sandbox nature of the game has nothing to do with rewards either. No one ever undocked in EVE if there was not some form of reward. Be that kills and the loot from your victims, the ISK you earn from ratting in anomalies or salvage sales from exploration sites, the conquest of systems, stations and outposts or completing a courier contract with a juicy reward/collateral balance. It is all about rewards.
Yeah, the rewards were pretty shabby. I almost decided not to run it. Only reason I did run it was to get the Dramiel skin.
Truth be told, what really disappoints me is the fact that they turned it into a gigantic grind fest.
I remember when Events in the Agency first started it was at 600 points, then they raised it to 900 points, now it’s 1200 points. On top of that they nerfed the loot table and site spawn amount, increased the spawn time of sites and placed the warp-in spot of the sites further away from the action.
Basically every aspect of it has been changed to make it a grind fest.
A bad grindfest at that exclusively for the sake of keeping people ingame and nothing else. Not to have fun, not to fly with other people, not to experience good sides of the game. Plain and simply just to keep people inside the skinner-box. Requiring some kind of grinding is fine, but the ways CCP goes about to realize this grind is just lazy, unimaginative copy-pasta.
The point is, if the game still was a sandbox, there is no need for ccp to offer rewards or even offer events. the rewards i will get from playing - if you want to call it rewards - come from what i personally choose it to be.
giving ridiculously good rewards out for ridiculously boring gameplay such as events kills every other aspect of the game since players will try to get them and thus are not available for other game activities.
I am happy this time the rewards were low enough for me to just ignore the whole thing.
That time is long gone, and the CCP that would ignore this stupid fad is also no more. Worse, the current CCP implements this event fad in worse ways into the game compared to competitors. See this reward track as example for this. I would also be happy if there weren’t any events because they do not fit into the gameplay, they are even more grindy than all other activities of EVE, and they are ridiculously annoying and time-wasting for the normal day-to-day activities.
For instance, my 30 day sig scan count went up from 600 to over 800, and we aren’t even at half-time of the event. The amount of additional scanning I have to do to keep on top of what’s going on in my area is enormous. Plus, now that I have finished this grind, I can’t turn off these sites and still have to waste so much time scanning these now completely pointless data sites to find what I actually want to find. Not even the SOCT scan boosters help in that regard because I still need to go down to 1 AU to figure out if a signature is a data site or not.
@CCP …for what it’s worth for future events, I’m really not a fan of these recent “have to chose a side” types.
Having to chose a side is restrictive and limits rather than enhances my options. I can’t decide who to chose (ok that’s on me) and, this last one in particular, for a semi casual player has been tough to find the right sites. Loot has been fine as I run any I come across but the fact only one side is counting towards the rewards tracker is frustrating and laborious.
This.
I want to huff gas.
I don’t want to spend my time scanning down a million ISK or so worth of boosters and skins
Yeah, the “choose a side” event points stuff has been very irritating for years now. I found mostly the sites I needed for the first half of the month, but I was busy IRL and didn’t have time to grind all the way to 1050 (wanted that Gila skin like DMC wanted the Dramiel skin) during that period, so… only made it to 600 or so… then in the 2nd half of the month, I was mostly finding the other type of sites, the ones that didn’t give me points.
Yes, it sucks that the 2 rewards above the Gila skin are also lame, but no one’s forcing us to go above 1050. The 2 teams thing is… to me, much much worse, esp with such high points requirements.
And as for the boss kill stuff, yeah… I fondly remember the 40 day (!!!) Shadow of the Serpent event from summer of… 2016? I think. where everyone on grid when the site was completed got points, fleeted or not. And there was one loot box people literally raced for.
I get that CCP likes the suspect baiting (and counter-baiting) potential from a white wreck to the winning fleet and a yellow wreck to everyone else that is so very tempting, but… a loot box that was literally a free for all… a much more fun way to handle the loot distro and at LEAST you got your event points even if you missed out on the loot in a site.
Oh, and as for the scanning… I enjoyed it way more than the combat, so I did about twice the data sites as I did combats. And yes, it takes a couple scans to find out it’s not the one you need for points, so I just went ahead and cleared both types out there, whereas I never did anything other than the combats I needed for points. I found some pretty good loot. 2x Pyro 4, 3 really good hardwiring implants (2 worth about 200-300 mil, both 5%s IIRC… and 1 worth about 550 mil, a 6%).
I was able to (with or without the scan drugs or halcyon drugs that affect scanning) generally nail all of the level III event data site sigs by going 8 AU → 2 AU → 0.5 AU (skipping 4 and 1). But depending on skills and ships, YMMV (Anathema with max scanning skills, no implants… drugs didn’t really seem to matter either way).
As an ongoing problem, there are a great many ways to lose empire/(or main faction; empire faction for short) standings, but very few ways to gain them; for instance:
You lose empire standings for failing a mission, but do not gain empire standings for completing a mission (except for storylines). You lose empire standings for destroying their ships, but do not gain standings with the opposing empire.
Storyline missions result in derived standings losses with other empire factions; the only source of empire standings gains without derived empire standings losses is epic arcs.
In addition, there is no way to gain CONCORD standings; only to lose them.
As a general note, it gets harder to gain standings, and easier to lose them, the higher the standings become.
Like security status, low empire standings can get your ship blown up; unlike security status, you can’t turn in tags or otherwise buy you way out of low empire standings.
Taking together, this makes it quite difficult to increase standings, and quite easy to lose them. I hope that CCP fixes this problem.

This hangar is sorted by Type. Spot the glitch.
Hangar sorting is an ongoing problem since… forever.
You can sort the hangar by category or by group, but can’t by two at once, what would have been the most expected user choice.
