Version 21.04 - General Feedback

The problem with this logic is they aren’t instant message channels. They’re chat channels. And a better chat alternative has been around for decades. It’s called IRC. If you have some manner of proof to show that Jabber is better for text communications than IRC is or has been more thoroughly tested and debugged, I would love to see it.

Interesting. CCP changed the color tone of on-route market orders from yellow to orange. Wasn’t listed in any patch notes. What is the rationale behind giving it the color of a clickable link and not the yellow of the route that we have in the overview? Surely, this kind of inconsistency does not reduce cognitive overload, makes the UI easier to use and streamlines the experience.

EVE communication was built on top of IRC before days.
They have changed to XMPP because of better scalability built into protocol standard.
Their mistake was that they are hosting it outside the cluster, thus all the desyncs.

That is so false it is absolutely ridiculous.

nevermind that chat channels are EXACTLY instant messaging.

IRC is an absolute pile of garbage, it is extremely difficult to secure, implementing presence - a requirement for making any of the channels work - cripples scalability and reliability on top of incurring massive client side overhead and it requires that users be trusted to not abuse the system, and eve players cannot be relied upon for that

wait until you try the new launcher and get 50% gpu load without the need to start up a client

L3 data sites are such a pain in the back for events. They take ages to scan down and only when you get to 0.5 you know whether it’s the correct site for your picked side or not… Great Job, CCP will never learn this lesson.

Albion online has no local in their black zone’s what they do have thou is some type of effect so you know when players are massing in that area thou and that is enough.

Please undo the Exploration Event Site loot nerf!! I was actually excited to explore again, but now people are all reporting absolutely trash loot.

The nerf didn’t balance it, just killed the fun of the thing in itself.

CCPlease, bring the old antialiasing… i cant with the new one… even with removed blurr… it just looks cheap… cartoonish… cant feel the crisp textures on ships and stations. I play eve cause of pretty ships in space and I feel like this new antialising is just a step back and not forward… old antialising was fine anyways… who even asked for this?

Uh-huh. That’s great for Albion Online. EVE Online, on the other hand, tried getting rid of local, and it resulted in all of the PvEers in the affected areas deciding ‘I’m gonna go do something else’ for several weeks, and all the PvPers / Hunters whining over not being able to find anyone to kill who didn’t shoot back. Login numbers dropped by fully one third, and the effect of the Blackout (and the immediate rebound when it ended) can easily be seen on EVE-Offline:

So it’s really great that in another game, that operates at a far smaller scale, under very different conditions, not having local chat works just fine. But in EVE, it’s been attempted, and it was an unmitigated disaster.

See that? That’s from the September 2019 MER. The mining spike is nullsec undeploying after a war in July 2019… and then Blackout hits, and everything drops, fast. Mining drops by half. A third of all production goes away. A fifth of all destruction evaporates.

And that took only 10 weeks. July 12-Sep 20.

Albion Online is not EVE.

This event is an annoying waste of time. I have chosen Guristas/Angel Cartel as my side to support and should obviouly raid SocT sites. But so far I have only found 2 Soct sites and 30 pirate sites. I have not been able to make any meaningful progress with this event’s reward track and it feels like I only get the sites of the faction I support and not the faction I oppose.

On top of that comes the considerable signature spam and the unwarranted scan difficult of the data sites, which causes even more wasted time with my normal, day-to-day activities.

They don’t need such a chat because you cannot see the entire black zone at a glance. Unlike in EVE where you have access to information for the entire system and can easily warp around to cover blind spots (which is not necessary in most systems).

EVE’s star systems are akin to your vision range in Albion. Just like in EVE, you see what is going on in your immediate surroundings, ie. your star system. You don’t know what’s going on in the rest of the zone outside your vision range, ie. the region.

I just logged into the event and picked the SoCT side. Haven’t looked for any sites yet but if I get the same results as you, maybe we should trade location info with each other…

Also WTF is the deal with the Agency points spread? Seems like CCP keeps raising the Agency points spread with each event. It was bad enough at 900 points, now it’s like 1200…

Another annoying thing with CCP as of late is their stupid idea that they need to place objects on grid that can decloak you, that bump you out of your path on collision, but which you cannot target or even click on to see the distance between you and the object.

at this point im convinced the spawn rates for sites in nullsec are screwed up, i have 9 characters sitting in different nullsec systems or flying around watching probe scanner window and over the last 2 days ive found 4 sites. 48 hours, and 4 sites.

Ok now what? Can’t be looted, can’t be opened while still in the can.

Now CCP have to fix it!

The Shipcaster Beacon Constructors and completed State Shipcaster Beacons are both vulnerable to attack by Capsuleers. The completed Shipcaster Beacons have a one hour reinforcement period before they can be completely destroyed to allow time for allied capsuleers to respond in defense.

Can you make it so we can RF the shipcaster itself instead of just the beacons?

Apparently (according to some people in rookie help) they can be moved to small secure containers. No idea about whether other containers might work.

Completing a shipcaster beacon requires the following materials
300 smartfab units
10 self-harmonizing power cores
200 quantum microprocessors
8,000 nanotransistors
However, the empire will reward builders for their contributions up to a total of 55,000 LP. The minimum donation is one item, so every unit helps!

Where does one “donate” PI commodities & nanotransistors for building shipcaster beacons?
