With update 2024-11-26.1 the compression interaction was reduced to right-click menu only without any sort of confirmation.
As it’s been a month now - when will this UI malfunction be removed since it leads to “accidental compression” of ores where the unrevokable action is unwanted ?
And yes, i just compressed some omber - luckily only lost 5 mil this time.
Proposal for change: Reactivate the compression widget that’s in the code anyway when compressing in citadels since it’s a one-time action there, not something you do every five minutes.
As a sidenote, removing the compression widget step also led to any error messages from compression no longer showing.
A gift has been left for you in the New Eden Store*! Inside your Yoiul Festival Celebration Crate you’ll find a festive firework to help celebrate the season, along with 20 free PLEX.
Given the message (which certainly is dated today) has this qualification,
*This gift is available to all of you who played from 1 Dec 2022- 23 Dec 2023, as long as your player account had over three hours of playtime throughout the year
one does wonder whether the legendary CCP attention to detail has struck again and they have simply reposted last year’s message by accident without meaning to do so?
At the risk of becoming subject to a mysterious podding… I’m afraid I have found further continuity issues with the ship designer designations provided by the ship info window and cinematics.
These I have mostly covered in a lore thread here, but in short:
The Tormentor’s is marked as designed by Viziam; however The Frigates of EVE Online states the original design was drafted by the Imperial Navy (page 36), as was recent revision of YC114 (page 37).
The Charon is marked as designed by the Caldari Navy and Kaalakiota; however EVE Universe: The Art of New Eden states it was Ishukone who designed it (page 38).
The Incursus is marked as designed by Duvolle Laboratories; however The Frigates of EVE Online states it originally drafted by “Federation Navy Engineers” (page 90, second paragraph).
The Vexor Navy Issue is marked as designed by CreoDron; however the ships in-game profile points towards the design having been “retooled” by Federation Navy engineers.
The Burst is marked as designed by Core Complexion Inc.; however The Frigates of EVE Online states it was initially designed by Minmatar Mining Corporation (page 118) and made into a logistics frigate by the Republic Fleet in YC114 (page 119).
The Fenrir is marked as designed by the Vherokior Tribe; however EVE Universe: The Art of New Eden states that it was “Developed by Boundless Creations, under contract from Freedom Extension” (page 51).
The Orca is only marked as designed by ORE Technologies; however the ships in-game profile states it was developed as a joint venture between ORE and Deep Core Mining Inc.
The Squall is only marked as designed by ORE Technologies; however the ships in-game profile states that Mordu’s Legion was brought in as a co-designer.
The Avalanche is only marked as designed by ORE Technologies; however the ships in-game profile also mentions contributions by Mordu’s Legion, Chemal Tech, Eifyr and Co and Propel Dynamics.
The Gold and Silver Magnates are marked as designed the Ministry of War; however The Frigates of EVE Online states the Imperial Navy designed these.
Carthum Conglomerate and Viziam are marked as the sole designers of a lot of Amarr ships, some of which are very old designs (like the Apocalypse or the Augoror). However both companies in-game profiles imply they are rather new corporations; particularly Viziam which is said to only be a few years old as of YC105.
There are also a number of designer entries that, while not necessarily incorrect, could be up for debate; particularly on co-design credit should be granted.
The Aeon is marked as designed by the Viziam; however the ships in-game profile mentions the Imperial Navy commissioned it. As such should the Navy also be listed as (co-)designers, as has been done with other ships like the Thanatos?
The Bantam is marked as designed by Lai Dai and Caldari Navy; however The Frigates of EVE Online state it was originally designed by Minedrill, before being recently redesigned by the Navy for transport and logistics. Should Minedrill therefore be listed as a co-designer? Indeed the Navitas, which has a similar history, has ORE as a co-designer.
The Tayra is marked as designed by Kaalakiota; however there is an out of universe source stating the re-design was by Lai Dai.
The Navitas is marked as designed by Roden Shipyards and ORE; however The Frigates of EVE Online state the review state the to turn the ship into a logistics frigate was carried out by FEDCAF engineers. Should the Navy get Co-Designer status?
The Slasher is marked as designed by Thukker Mix and the Republic Fleet; however The Frigates of EVE Online seems to imply it is just a Republic Fleet design. Other than the Firetail, it’s the only Minmatar frigate made only with Republic Fleet components.
The Scythe is marked as designed by Core Complexion Inc. and the Republic Fleet; however some of the information from the Minmatar Mining Corporation Testing Facility suggests the design may have originated from MMC as a mining ship. Or… perhaps it was just a general Minmatar design allowed for a variety of civilian uses by the occupying Amarr authorities.
The Cyclone is marked as designed by Core Complexion Inc; however the history given in EVE Universe: The Art of New Eden is slightly more complicated. In short, the Republic Fleet initially design it, but RSS then ask Core Complexion Inc to review the blueprints; who then (from my reading) go on to design the current version of the Cyclone. Should the Navy and RSS therefore get co-design credit?
The Cybele is marked as designed by Duvolle Laboratories; however should Ostrakon Agency and Crux Special Tasks Group not be co-designers as well? The counterpart prize ship, the Shapash, has all 3 as designers.
P.s. Sorry for the text wall everyone; this was much more text wallular than I anticipated
