Version 22.02 - Revenant - General Feedback

Joke of the week.

On laptop using Intel Integrated Graphics (on Win10) Eve has for some reason decided that VSync should now cap framerate at 40 fps (instead of the 60 it should be at).

Switching VSync off with otherwise identical settings pushes it to the regular 70-75 fps that machine gets.

After todays update, game window just closes after login and selecting a character. Whats going on?

@Eos Nerf:
The changes didn’t really hit that hard. Still too easy to multibox with drone assist, still best dps + damage application long range.

BEFORE:

NOW:

The Sentry Optimal Bonus or the Sentry Damage Bonus could be completely removed and the ship would still be very good.

If the Eos wouldn’t have the 5% Damage + 5% Optimal Bonus, the line in the graph would be slightly below the one of the Astarte (green) at closer ranges, but slightly higher at the top end ranges. Which looks like a quite good balance point given the fact how easy the Eos scales up when using multiple accounts.

It’s really questionable if Ships as the Ishtar and Eos should have Sentry-Boni at all, since Sentries are a battleship size Weapon System (all Stats like Damage, Range, Tracking are comparable to L-size Turrets). They would still perform very well compared to other long-range fitted Commandships. And in times of Booshers, the ā€œimmobilityā€ when having sentries out isn’t really a factor, since the Boosh will take the ships and all the sentries with it. So, it would be okay (and still offer okayish performance) if they could use Sentries, but shouldn’t get boni on them.

And yes, I have my own max-skilled Eos Pilot, I still think it does too well.

So, just in, opened Eve launcher, it is telling me I need to chose client install location C:/EVE/SharedCache.

Is this a new patch patch?

Here’s a copy (and further updates sent to GM Stark) of my ticket (2335561):

The LAUNCHER has updated. I updated my graphics card. I RESTARTED the entire PC system. Then I click on EVE and this has been my experience for hours:

I can’t open a CLIENT WINDOW to start PLAYING the game…

I am running a WINDOWS 10 Pro (22H2) PC with an i7-6700k Intel core (4 cores, 4 Ghz), 32 GB RAM, terabytes of SD/HD/M2 storage with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (latest version 572.83) and DirectX runtime version 12.0

When I click on the PLAY NOW option on one of my accounts offered in the LAUNCHER after your CCP latest update, the blue button changes in this order:

PLAY NOW - and when I select it, it then cycles through this loop of failure:

CLIENT IS RUNNING

GAME CLIENT IS STARTING…

then it resorts back to: PLAY NOW

UPDATE: Since submitting my ticket, I’ve been in email dialog with GM Stark who told me the following:

" It is likely that the launcher cache files have become corrupt. I recommend you delete some of the launcher files and see if that resolves the issue. To delete the launcher files, please follow the instructions below.

  • Press the Windows key + R to open the Run window.
  • Copy and paste the following text into the run window and press Enter: %APPDATA%/EVE Online/
  • Delete all files and folders except for the Logs folder and the state.json file.
  • Launch EVE Online and see if the issue has been resolved."

I followed GM Stark’s instructions, and it did not work.

I responded. GM Stark responded asking for my Launcher’s logs.

I sent ā€œGenerate Support Payloadā€ as well as a ā€œLogLiteā€ file as separate attachments.

I have not heard back since.

So back to my ultimate question still (since I cannot log in to use my accounts): What has been done, and when will you be able to fix it?

it dosen’t work

how do we import our old UI settings now, the launcher only lets you make a profile not select the settings location. Am I missing something?

Well, this isn’t directly related to the topic, but since it seems that a surprising number of people are affected, I’ll go ahead and post it here.

This may be completely useless information.
Sorry.

After the graphics rendering update on March 18, computers using some graphics adapters will be unable to launch Eve Online.

This may be avoided by using Direct X11 for rendering.

Click on the gear icon in the top right of the launcher, and find the string ā€œDirect X12ā€.
Then try switching it to ā€œDirect X11ā€.

This change is very easy, so you can try it before updating your graphics driver or reinstalling your OS.

However, Direct X11 is an old technology, so it will probably be removed from the game eventually.

In that case, you may need to update your graphics driver or use a more recent graphics adapter.

Thanks very much.

From my experience updating the graphics driver is not enough, or not the case for the dx 12 option being fubared and dx 11 working. I’ve got 2 pc’s and a laptop that we’re running eve in dx 12 just fine or monday, but since tuesday that was not the case anymore:

  • on the 12 y/o pc that barely runs eve on potato mode I had to change the dx to 11;
  • on the 7 y/o pc no change needed, works just fine in dx 12;
  • on the 1 y/o nasa supercomputer laptop had to change to dx 11 for eve to actually launch.
All three have the latest possible drivers and under 1 year windows install/reinstall…so what the actual?

Edit: 1 → 2

My particular problem was solved by a suggestion by GM Chaos AFTER today’s patch:

" It’s possible that an issue with DirectX 12 is the source of this problem, which may be resolved by reverting back to DirectX 11. Please see the following instructions below:

  • Start the Launcher.
  • Click on the Cogwheel in the top right corner of the launcher window.
  • Click on EVE Online.
  • In the Select DirectX version window choose DirectX 11.
  • Launch EVE Online again and see if the issue persists."

Interestingly, that worked. I guess anyone who is running a higher end card that runs DirectX 12, the EVE Launcher will detect DirectX 12 and make that the default setting - which prevents anyone trying to log in to this latest version of EVE. Once switched to DirectX 11, restart the EVE Launcher, and bingo.

Hope that may help other unable to get into the game.

Great feature, and I second the ASK for grouping or visual separation of Pinned from Unpinned locations in Personal Assets

Ever since the patch, I cannot log in my alphas. Is anyone else having this problem?

It’s a cull, without announcing a cull

I seriously doubt any CCP developers read this stuff. That said and all, you know I had the client crash twice today and I will file a ticket later this evening. But for each of us who file tickets, there are dozens who don’t and just quit playing a new improved ( aka untested ) version of Eve Online Offline back online again.

Adios o/

the Objectives Infopanel has been added to abyssal deadspace encounters, so you can now track what room you are in and how many NPCs are remaining.

That’s welcome, but it is really confusing that you have inconsistent rules to determine when a room is completed. For room 1 and 2, it is completed when you land on the next room. For room 3 it is completed when you have killed all the NPCs and the biocache. I think it would be better to have all room progress like room 3 : kill all the mobs and the main cache.

Like 10 minutes in and completed a room, I’m like ā€œF*** did room 1 took that long? I’m screwed!ā€
Take the gate
ā€œOh, it’s the last room now. Stupid CCP!ā€

Totally agree. When designing game elements, easy to understand and consistent rules of how things work should be a main priority. Confusing design lowers the attractiveness of the game, especially for newer players because while in some cases it is just an inconvenience, in other cases it will lead to losses, frustration and sometimes even quitting the game.

How do I find out who the war was declared on? The letter from CONCORD indicates the headquarters of the one who declared war. and our headquarters is not specified.

omg , u live in WH dont talk about stufff in nullsec wich it doesnt affect u ( and yes f1 lowskiller /multiboxer are only in nullsec , and u cant find them in WH space YEAH)
It’s no longer possible to use an Ansiblex while warp disrupted or inside a bubble = 0 chance to escape

  1. GL trying to chase away cloaky campers , camping ansi
  2. paying for a upgrade that is a death trap ( sound nice)
  3. forcing people to have a secound account to scout every ansi u go thru ( nice bussiness plan CCP)

It will affect me, whenever we’ll go hunt in 0.0 it will enable us to bubble an unguarded Ansiblex and whoever tries to use it without paying proper attention and/or bringing an escort will probably get rekt. So, nice update!
