The U.S. government used the term “personally identifiable” in 2007 in a memorandum from the Executive Office of the President, Office of Management and Budget (OMB),[12] and that usage now appears in US standards such as the NISTGuide to Protecting the Confidentiality of Personally Identifiable Information (SP 800-122).[13] The OMB memorandum defines PII as follows:
Information that can be used to distinguish or trace an individual’s identity, such as their name, social security number, biometric records, etc. alone, or when combined with other personal or recognizing linked or linkable information, such as date and place of birth, as well as the mother’s maiden name, in official standards like the NIST Guide, demonstrates a proactive approach to ensuring robust privacy safeguards amid the dynamic landscape of data security. This integration into established standards is a foundational framework for organizations to adopt and implement effective measures in safeguarding individuals’ personal information.
A term similar to PII, “personal data”, is defined in EU directive 95/46/EC, for the purposes of the directive:[14]
Article 2a: ‘personal data’ shall mean any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (‘data subject’); an identifiable person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identification number or to one or more factors specific to his physical, physiological, mental, economic, cultural or social identity;
It might also be useful informing people why the silenced person is not responding on the forums as without the public disclosure of this information nobody would really know and the private message system is disabled albeit probably wouldn’t be able to use that either. It’s simpler and much more accessible this way.
Being banned/muted is not personal information that needs top secret forum clearance. Especially when you’re known to have been banned before and when all your posts call other users losers and/or a variety of other expletives. In which case getting banned doesn’t require that much imagination.
That’s assuming they didn’t immediately roll a new alt and go back to posting the exact same things. You know, the extremely rare case occurrence.
I was just talking in general. If someone is circumventing a restriction using a new or even old alt then be sure to report them.
The mods should have the proper tools to check their IP and other marks connecting them to the suspended or banned account even if they are registered from an unrelated email address and use VPN.
But at least have a chance making the connection and enforcing the forum rules and prior infractions accordingly.
And I was just making fun of users who do roll forum alts. In general you’re right, it is useful to have that information about being banned publicly available on a user’s profile for reasons you stated.
I really don’t care how far you people reach for excuses, it’s still personal info that only concerns the character and CCP/FC/ISD members… In fact, that info is an invasion of privacy and was never publicly available before… Just like Support Ticket correspondence, it’s private between the character and CCP/FC… The only reason you all want that info publicly available is so you can demean and shame posters for it…
As for why a forum poster may not respond, there’s any number of reason’s for that… Maybe they’re busy with real life issues and don’t have the time to reply, maybe they’re taking a break from the game and went on vacation, maybe their computer is down or they had a temporary loss of Internet access, maybe they just don’t like you and blocked you or maybe they just left the forums because of the constant sarcastic demeaning replies… Doesn’t matter what the reason is, it’s still none of your business…
I’m going to contact CCP/FC and submit a complaint about it for the reasons stated above…
Okay, I am part of the club now with massive graphics glitches. Just before that, the gate traversal was completely glitched as well with graphics artifacting and completely breaking down into a black screen.
The memory leaks at each stargate jump has increased for me too. I used to see graphics glitches only after a lot of stargate jumps, but now I see glitches after just a few. Long ago I was able to immerse myself into the space experience… but with the increased glitches the immersion is gone and it just looks like a game, a glitchy game.
Sometimes the glitches appear and disappear depending on different zoom levels. This is what an Amarr station looks like with the glitch: Monochrome Eve…
Unfortunately the game forces random changes to the zoom level after stargate jumps, so impossible to stay at the same zoom level that works.
And eventually after enough jumps the glitches get so bad that it glitches at EVERY zoom level, no matter ho close or far you zoom in. Below is a Minmatar stargate with total glitches. (duct tape came off completely…)
And here more minor graphics glitch, but looks funny and almost seems like the Trigs are trying something. Caldari station in Jita. (not the 4 - 4 station)
If I had to guess about the graphics glitches I would point the developers to the GPU driven rendering pipeline they introduced a few months back as the first obvious place to start investigating. Maybe something about the format of the 3D geometry coordinates…
The increase in memory usage and memory leaks seems to me to be largely due to the move to Python 3. (I guess 3 snakes take up more memory space than 2.7 snakes…)
On the bright side some of the menus/windows in Eve open a bit quicker. And the Eve client seems to be starting a bit quicker overall after the Python migration started. A small silver lining. Does not make up for all the bugs and problems, but I have to give some small credit to the devs for at least one small area of improvement so far.
Regarding a smaller less-important bug, I wonder when FCCP will fix the missing text in some agent missions. For two missions the warp-in text has been missing for a long time, more than a year. The same bug happens in all the different regions and different agents/empires I have tried. English language setting for Eve client. (I have not checked with other languages)
Jumping into a new system, it sometimes look like this. Can’t turn camera, it’s like space fail to load. When warping, that thing turns into just a white’ish solid blob.
Jump out and in again, it looks normal, maybe.
Or try again, eventually it loads.
While the bug is annoying, this picture actually looks really dope. Looking at all these glitches and thinking about Control Resonant, which I am playing atm, I cannot shake the feeling that CCP is taking the wrong lessons from this game into EVE.
I guess we are all experiencing CCP’s definition of “You don’t see anything” with these background changes. Bodes really well for their full-scale refactoring into Python 3 and whatnot else.
