I have been here for a while now. I am a miner. I owned a station – excuse me a structure – that was destroyed last year. I don’t complain about PvP, I posted the “This is why Eve can’t have good things here” topic, but that was not me crying about the loss of property. Although many of the posts that followed claimed as such, and went as far as misquoting me. It was put there as a warning to new players, you won’t keep your stuff in this game. No matter how it is named or unwritten rules of conduct, nothing is safe.
I don’t know why the developers think this Exordium will make the game different. I don’t see this as a game changer at all. To my understanding the new people will not have to exit through the same systems as everyone else does. Since this is meant for new players and not veterans, I don’t need to be there unless I plan on gifting mining ships in that system. At this point I am not sure they allow trade there or not.
In your country where you live, do you have those psychic police, like in Minority Report? I don’t know of any police force on Earth that can predict a murder and show up before it happens. There would not be anyone to arrest, since it didn’t happen yet. Maybe you live in a despotic nation where they can bust you on suspicious behavior. Damn, I would hate to be told, I was mining suspiciously and get arrested for it.
As for Uedama, I think that is not “Ganker Central”, Ahbazon, Rancer, the list of hot spots is endless. The only time I got ganked there, I was hauling a lot of junk. My advice to new players, be bold and conquer you fear of low sec, before it conquers you. Never expect to own nice things here, it is all very temporary.
You can never be a victim of a shark attack if you stay out of the water. Every time I decide to give low-sec another try I did horribly and resume activities in high-sec.
At this point remaining in high-sec is just another way to blue balls low-sec and give FC the bird. Low-sec is desperate for content because they shoot anything and everything. If it weren’t for FW I think it would have the lowest population in EVE…
As far as I know, the shipcaster thing is a one-time deal, so of course they will load up most of what they obtained in a hauler because after that they are going to have to make multiple round trips back to Yulai to get the rest of their stuff.
My point is that CONCORD only reacts after the victim is already dead. That is not prevention, it is cleanup.
In the real world, if someone robs a bank, gets caught, and then keeps returning to the same bank to do it again, society does not just shrug and say, “Well, the police showed up eventually.”
At some point, repeat offenders get treated like repeat offenders.
That is the part EVE handwaves away. The same characters can keep operating in the same predictable choke points, over and over, with the same known pattern, and the system pretends each incident is brand new.
That is not “law enforcement.” That is a 15-minute timeout with extra steps.
And yes, Uedama is absolutely ganker central for highsec travel. Pretending it is not because lowsec also has dangerous systems is just dodging the point.
“Only people carrying high value get ganked” has never been the whole story.
Some ganks are for profit. Some are for killmail padding. Some are boredom. Some are spite. Some are just salt farming.
And “irrelevantly low incident rates” is doing a lot of work there. Irrelevant to whom?
To the person doing the ganking, maybe. To the person getting used as someone else’s content, probably not.
The real issue is that the same behavior can be repeated in the same highsec chokepoints over and over, and the system treats it like business as usual.
The general state of the game. Your thread is clearly trying to insinuate that there is going to be some inordinately large risk of people being ganked on their way out of exordium and there is absolutely no reason to believe that to be the case; It’s standard crybot propaganda.
If you don’t want to run the gauntlet through Uedama, Abhazon, or other choke points, then make a new trade hub that is before those systems. It’s that simple. It’s a player-driven economy. If everyone stopped using Jita as a trade hub and made one somewhere else, there would be no reason to even go through Uedama. But none of you are willing to do that, so the status quo remains…
