Weapons Batteries & Reinforcement Structures

How would you feel if you could place weapon batteries near your structures for a more effective defense than the current fitting slots system? When and where you could use this system would be based on whether your structure was in reinforced mode. During your first reinforcement timer you would be allowed so many weapons batteries to be placed in space around your structures. Just like POS you could control up to 5 weapon batteries per player. Based on the structure size, a different set amount would be allowed. If the attacker fails and the structure goes through its cycle then all weapons batteries would go offline and then unanchor from the structure.

Do you think this would be an interesting new idea? Adding an extra layer of defense?

These ‘weapon batteries’ that defend reinforced structures already exist, by having a defence fleet of ships with weapons piloted by players to defend the structures they use.

If you are trying to suggest some kind of passive defence force with zero player involvement, why should a corporation that apparently doesn’t have people to defend their structure be able to defend their structure?

I do not think it’s an interesting idea, nor is it new.

If your corporation wants to have a structure they should be able to keep it alive through combat or diplomacy.

No. Don’t anchor what you can’t defend.

That easy, why should a multi-boxer be able to supply more damage than some random guy just wanting to play eve?

That’s a good point, if you want to defend your structure solo you can multibox a fleet.

Dividing your attention like that is not going to be a match against even numbers piloted by individual competent pilots though.
