What Actually Is Eve Online?

The problem is the Outsiders, those who hate on-line video games, and try to stalk people by saying they are you for example MB ThePhotographer when they are not.

Most people that I have had conversations with on this forum and other sci-fi forums have had their screen names illegally portrayed by people in real life. The, " I’m around you at all times and you don’t know it is coming from." type of people.

These problems with random people I have no idea who the f*ck they even are, coming out as being people I converse with on-line, when they are not, all started when a brat cousin of mine began to inquire about what character name I was using, after wanting to use my account to play Eve Online on, which we know is a No, No.

He could be one of the reasons why Eve Online is dying. His name is Connor. He is the primary reason that I did not speak to one side of the family for nearly six years. There’s the secret you were looking were.

Brave man

Even back when that photo was taken, the coke had bleached the fur under his nose.

Dude has always liked to party. I’ll give him that.

Mr Epeen :sunglasses:

So does Chad, that’s why there are so many frostpackers.

My grand daughter asks me more complicated questions about the internet. Like what’s the difference between Fan Duel and Only Fans. I knew what Fan Duel was, had to look the other one up. Still trying to burn that image out of my brain. I thought they were both about gambling.

I told her the truth, it is a social media site that has run amok with x-rated materials. I have always felt that honesty is the best policy. Forums tend to have people who are not so honest, but the forum is not the game. I saw this person playing Halo who was gathering information about the players and then convincing them he was “The Devil”. Later he posted a video showing and explaining how this was done. People on social media ( e.g. Facebook ) was posting their real world information along with gamer tags and videos. He also did an IP address lookup to know the player’s home town. This gave him enough ammo to fire at them in the voice chat and convince them he knew all about them.

My great aunt was very paranoid. When I visited her in Chicago, she would tell me I was crazy for going out into the city at night. She saw it as a mugger’s haven, the worst anyone could imagine. I never once was bothered by anyone at night in Chicago, I knew better to walk down dark alleys and how to stand up for myself at night. I honestly think she wore a tinfoil hat to bed.

Some people see the internet as a haven for toxic trolls, hackers, cyber stalkers, pornographers, and the worst they can imagine. I was at Walmart shopping with my sister and met a friend who I hadn’t seen in years. I told them I was playing online games, they looked shocked, and ask if I wasn’t afraid of getting attacked. They of course cited the old news about the “Facebook Killer”, other oddities as well. I decided to change the subject, but it was obvious they had no clue about the internet dos and don’ts. People tend to form these opinions without proper research and education.

Not really, try going out in germany alone at night. It’s not your money they after.

So basically, the Devil is still bound to the depths of the lake. No matter how much he tries to get at people with his fancy knowledge of people, through screen emulators, key loggers and other tracking methods, the host would never have known a damned thing about the person without actually having to interact with the person over many years.

I like the Devils trick when the host tries to snatch words out of the air while the person is making a post and somehow the Devil’s host seems to magically know what is being typed, letter by letter. It’s like the mind reader who believes he can peer into the mind of the person being viewed. They can only use the past and create frameworks of images, much like meme, to make the target believe the mind reader is actually reading someone’s mind.

Not even wrong.

It is quite easy to read minds, take for example this baby, what is he thinking ?

or these f1 monkeys

It’s not just jump or not jump…its people getting Concorded after being told 50 times to set status to green, people shooting at friendlies because they ignored ’ only shoot at what’s broadcast’…and so on.

But EVE would not be EVE without those moments. So, long may they continue.

I think it stems back to events, like the one that happened in Texas. 1987. The news media captured the terror of a child trapped in a well. Jessica McClure was a small child trapped in a hole in the ground and everyone feared the worse. While it felt like it was happening in your own backyard, this event was one child in one city. Why did the media focus on this and not all the bad things happening to all the other children? It was about the popularity of the event and keeping viewers glued to their news broadcast. Thankfully Jessica was saved by Ron Short, a man born without collarbones, who was sent down the narrow shaft and pull her out.

Bad things do happen to people all the time, the news media forces the bad stories upon us, because they sell better than fluff ( happy news stories ). It is this grim part of our nature that causes people to always think and expect the worse. I tend to read the obits every day. My husband calls me a ghoul for looking through the obits. I want to know who died in my community and did I know them? I don’t read them wanting to see that someone I know died.

No the Devil freely swims in the lake, he just doesn’t frequent the surface that often. How can anyone have fun swimming at the beach knowing there are sharks just 50 feet from them at any given moment? Some will say ignorance is bliss or providence protects fools and children. I imagine paranoid people will never go to the beach for the fear of shark attack and skin cancer. While I am fully aware of the dangers, I don’t allow it to spoil my fun.

Unless they use one of these below in which case nobody knows they did it.

Eve is a place where I can be my worst and still be at my best. Cheating, Swindling and Scamming, a place where if you have the balls you can reach out and take what you want. I like to chill smoke bud have a beer or three and relax to the soothing sounds of space lasers while I watch paid for assassins gank my competition sometimes watching them scream in local, I hardly feel bad for them loosing a ship when they brazenly looked down at me from there high horse. Truly eve is a place to indulge your darker urges, most people rate talent based on how big your kill board is. But I look at it from a different perspective a different metric something that isn’t quantified by tiers or levels of ships there’s a social aspect to this intelligent mind games and manipulation those are the individuals that master the game the ones that exploit and take without remorse that have chess pieces moved well before they need to make there plays.

Like we did to the Null blks? Certainly, can’t do that anymore. The days of being one of Robin Hoods merry men has long past. No small corp stands a chance these days it seems.

Nah, we just need to educate haulers on how to spot traps. Also I never haul anything with the expectation it will arrive in One Piece. Great show by the way. I watched over the weekend.

Also people need to avoid transporting large cargo long distance. I am not trying to shame IDoLike MyPI here, but apparently SheMan +15 others liked your cargo even more so. Even if I were omega, I would not ship in these huge hauler screaming Gank me! Please. This isn’t even a new player as they have been around since 2020.

I think it depends highly on @Spring_Sky 's definition of “what you want” and your definition of “more than you can chew”. I believe a small corp ( under 20 total pop? ) could make it with an alpha corp. Communication is the backbone of success. Followed by actually knowing who you are playing with in your corp. If I were to design a Robin Hood corp, no one could sign up without an in person meet up. Sounds scary? For example; If I were the CEO and one of my officers said, “I have a friend who wants to join us.” My question would be, do you know this “friend” in real life or are they a faceless entity you met online? Can you call them up by phone or do they only exist in social media? Personal screening would need to be done to keep the spies out. I would say that tight of a group would be virtually unstoppable.

We were apx 40.

I cannot emphasize this enough. A small, well experienced corp could go far.

And you are correct. CCP pulled the carpet out from under our feet. No wonder we have so much ganking as I see ganking showing the players thoughts on the game. Hence, no hard feelings. If you can catch me, you can have me, but I still put up a good one-sided fight. I have no choice!

Yes, I could and still can. I went 600 miles outta my way to visit one corp mate. Can you say the same? The sky where he lived had almost no light pollution. I had not seen the stars like that since I was a child.

That kinda dedication goes way farther then skill points that you buy. That kind of experience is what makes a good player.

I am now Ronan. Possibly the last of the 3 last. As 1 turned to the Dark Side and joined null. I tried it twice, but it always left a bad taste in my mouth. The other was never a combat player in this game anyway.

“At the time.” We had been playing together for 2 yrs in a different game. With a good FC and despite learning skills, we did very well thank you.

Back at you!
