I am not against making Vecamia 0.5 highsec. But I doubt it will help Amarr tradehub in any way. And if it doesn’t help the tradehub, then there are no good arguments for this change.
It won’t happen anyway, developers are not reading this part of the forum at all. So it is only a subject to argue around between ourselves.
Personally I would rather see all faction highsecs to be divided from each other by low or null so the motivation to use Dodixie/Hek/Rens/Amarr was stronger and to removed these 1.6bil cargo AP freighters from space. If players want to haul their ■■■■ between Amarr and Jita they should do it actively.
But that is just my wish and it will never happen.
Amarr used to be 11j from Jita back when it was still the second-biggest trade hub. Why do you reckon anyone traded there instead of Jita back then? If anything, the mechanics of the game now (industry cost modifiers etc.) favour Amarr more than the mechanics back then did, yet somehow it’s deader than ever. The only thing that really changed was distance, because even Pochven is nowhere near as easy as 11 jumps in highsec.
It’s not somehow, the game has probably not even half the real players it had a decade ago. The account number may not have been dropped by 50% but much more people using more accounts simply means less real persons playing the game. And guess what? Most of them have a “Jita alt”. Thats the only reason the drop in numbers isn’t so obvious there.
For Amarr itself, when considering the changes in player numbers, not so much has changed at all. It’s still the second biggest hub and it’s still in pretty acceptable shape, well stocked most of the time. There simply isn’t that much reason to even live in Amarr Space these days, as there is nothing really exciting to do that yo can’t do around Jita as well. The real player population dropped to a point, where other markets offer no real benefit any more, the space is way too vast and the population spreads so thin, if not enough customers are around, a market will suffer, simple as that. See Rens: It once was one of the “bigger” hubs, by far not the caliber of Jita or Amarr, but good enough to offer 99% of the stuff an average capsuleer needed in acceptable numbers and prices. And today its just dead. Because barely anyone lives there any more.
And so we are closing the circle again (but you seem to be simply stubborn): Give people a MOTIVATION to go to Amarr insteand making it even more convenient to go to Jita. And this motivation is on spot #1: MONEY. If selling your stuff in Amarr (whatever that is, Blueloot, Redloot, Ores, PI, Reactionproducts, modules) grants you MORE MONEY because you will pay less taxes and fees, more people will see a reason to sell there. If you sell there regulary, the point comes where it is lucrative to settle there with your business. If more people begin to live there, the market has more demand for daily use products.
Can we just stop repeating this really simple circle? It’s mindblowing that you can’t see these simple connections. It’s not the Jita-Distance, it’s the benefits that give people reasons to go there. So give them benefits if you want to make that hub stronger.
