One should absolutely be able to “defect” from their current faction. Starting Miimatar should not mean not being able to join the Caldari if displeased, for example.

live in the abyss. ideally through anchorable structures (pocket stabilizers) that you would have to defend. as well as jump gate structures (to be able to get in and out) that you would also have to defend. if the gate dies, you have to build a new one or you’re locked out of the pocket. if the stabilizer dies the pocket collapses and you lose everything in it.
