I miss being surprised in forum discussions.

I’ve been around so long that as soon as I see the thread title I know who will be posting, what they’re going to say, which forum alts will argue with each other even though they are both owned by the same player and who will be trolling until the thread is locked.

I started in 2010 and have played since. I miss the old skill tree and specization corps, getting all the destroyers and battlecruisers in 1 skill, the old map and oh so much more. Lately Ccp seems to just want ppl to PvP an/or join the 3 big alliances or thier slave corps. Thats not why I play. I run a r&D corp with all my 2nd and 3rd toons to make me isk doing BPC’s and stuff like that. I also try to help noobs in the game with it. But that seems to be something else Ccp is discouraging too nowadays. I wish u all would turn the clock back maybe 10 yrs on a lot of stuff. But the 1 thing I really want gone is the CSM’s. They are nothing more then a way for the big alliances to force thier policy down every ones throat.

I peek into the Eve subreddit from time to time and just happened to see the…ahem…9 day long DDoS… (somewhere Dr. Evil is saying “RIIIIIiiiiiiight”

But, after clicking on a forum thread link I see this thread and start skimming

This to be honest. I started right after Apocrypha. wpsace was my favorite part of the game. It slowly lost its mystique as CCP made scanning easier among many things. The citadel spam and their insistence on making the game easier and easier (while making grinding for ISK more and more time consuming) was one of the many reasons I walked away several years ago.

Their business model became worse and worse and the acquisition by PA hasn’t helped that in any way.

So long CCP, your “HTFU” mentality is one of the things I missed the most about Eve before I “won”.

Tackling in a kite dramiel with Burn Eden.

I miss the days when Eve’s motto was ‘Heres a spaceship. ■■■■ you.’

I would love to see an option of classic ship designs where you could purchase an old “obsolete” (in a lot of areas better) Vagabond, Hurricane, Moa, or any other ship you want. Imagine flying around and seeing an old “outdated” Vagabond locking you and closing distance.

I miss the sense of wonder and endless possibilities =^_^= I think CCP lost focus of the game. They wanted to build the biggest single universe once, but they’ve failed hard so many times, because they just have never planned for the long run. (Dust was a fail before it even started. How can u design a eve universe game for a console that lasts 1-4 years? WTF?!)
I think they should open their API and resources and allow third party developers to simply make modules like the captains quarter or some kind casino or ingame service. Like a big open source universe. Of course only CCP could load/unload a system after inspection, but it would be the best way to make eve great again.

I started in 2006. I miss living in lowsec. Had carved out my own place in the world far away from others and just enjoyed my time mining and doing sites. Once in a while Pirate or be pirate. Could enjoy my time and not have to deal with gank fleets that often. WH is kinda like that but the random hole roll ins and keeping hole control time investment takes up most of my time making it not worth it.

Also solo PVP, you could fly out and find it. All of it was awesome. Then they added Faction War. So I did highsec piracy. I’d ransom indy corps with POS’s with labs on it. If they don’t come out and shoot we get the BPOS in there. We had a fun operation going. Then they changed wardec to allow anyone to join the war, for free.

Went full Indy and lost interest. Just returned and already seen nerfs to what I was about to do. Not lookin good.

I no longer miss EVE. Not that I have forgotten it, but time heals everything.

So much potential.

Such a waste.

EvE misses you though, @Yiole_Gionglao .

You’re not wrong about wasted potential…but EvE as it is is still ok.

Come back and ride it out with us.

So true… But I still think I’m going to give it a couple of years rest. (rest=alpha so don’t ask for my stuff that you cant use/fly  ) They “seem” to be understanding the bigger picture now, but I still don’t trust them to bring the game back. Too many whales in the game for them to lose money on I guess. Time will tell.

And for those who want to know what it was like “way back when”. The DDoS attack is a good example of what could happen. This attack was longer than the last one and I kinda had some pride in the game that us puny in number, were worthy of such an attack. :sunglasses:

While the attacks are not CCP’s fault, going further back to when downtime was. They could cause just as much harm in a short period. 24 hr skill que is a good example.

I still miss when the dev’s flew indestructible ships in game. It gave me confidence that they were at least somewhat familiar with what the average “Joe” was up to.

Enjoy winning eve during your break, MB. I have many fleetmates and corpmates that are seriously suggesting they might do similar. I’m not quite at that stage myself, but I do find myself considering switching from mostly subbing to mostly or all plexing soon™… and just letting my wallets dwindle until I’m in the poorhouse and then win at that point. We’ll see.

I miss the red-dot-free cargo hold.

Captain’s Quarters, it was perhaps something that should have been part of the accessories screen so as not to confuse it as being something useful but it was kind of funky seeing your character moving around a room.

Game wise it’s more things that Eve never had than things that are gone.

People wise the departed are missed but may they have a life instead.

I give CCP credit when they make good and great changes. And there have been plenty of those since I started playing in 2013, but there’s also been senseless nerfs instead of buffing other ships of the same class, there’s been killing the chat system 23 months ago… and now the red dots.

I don’t think the red dots would have made people rage quite as hard if many of us hadn’t been living with horrible lag, disconnects, and other DDOS-related symptoms for the past 3? 4? weeks now. I can’t remember remember which weekend that was that the DDOS began, it feels like 2020 has been nothing but one long DDOS so far.

The red dots are just the last straw for many. The inventory system is truly broken by this, btw, it’s not just the annoying red dot thing like the “GONG” was annoying from target (players, rats, wrecks, asteroids) dying when they introduced that a couple years ago. This is… far, far worse.
