You are out, then you are out, let it be. If you want to come back, come back. All this nostalgia doesn’t serve anyone any good. Nobody cares for the stories of long gone heroism, long disbanded corps and veterans who left and now clap their shoulders about their great EVE history on random other servers. Nobody cares how good or important or well-connected you were 15 years ago. And it doesn’t give you any high ground to speak from today.
EVE won’t ever be like it was in 2005 or 2010 or 2015 or 2020. But it’s still amazing. And while it is worse in some aspects, its better in other aspects. Find a group of like-minded people and do your thing. Critizizing existing mechanics is fine, suggestions for the betterment of the game is fine. But wishing for changes to be reverted just makes no sense, because most changes had a reason, often a good one, even if some players fail to understand it. Or simply don’t want to understand it because the change wasn’t benefitial for them personally.
Go read up on the notion of ‘classic servers’ . Your opinion is that future changes are always better. It as subjective as saying the new KFC recipe is bad. Maybe if you read more posts than you make you will realize that all opinions are equally valid.
CCP drove out all the likeminded friends I had. Doing my thing after being made Ronan just made it a grind to become rich. Glad you still find a reason to pay omega. You do pay to play I would have to assume after that statement?
Memory and connection helps maintain some level of trust between Capsuleers who return and shared stories help new Capsuleers carry on with similar beliefs that add the existing stories in New Eden.
I have a repeated yearly sub like for the last 20 years, because I believe its fair that for all that entertainment EVE offers, CCP does deserve to get some cash from me. For someone who has his life in order, 10 bucks a month isn’t even worth thinking about. It’s a matter of fairness in my eyes.
Doubt. For some CCPs decisions might have been the reason. For others their own decisions and changes in life. I don’t play with the same guys I did like 20 years ago, and sure, some did quit because the game changed. Others because they changed themselves. But that doesn’t stop me from making new friends in the game. Bittervet complaints don’t help. If someone decides to quit, fine, his decision. If he stops playing for other reasons, fine, nothing you can do about it. Just sticking to old memories and whining that Tom and Brad who were so nice in 2006 don’t play any more because Tom didn’t like the game any more and Brad has 3 children and a new job - who does that help? Surely not you.
You are responsible for your own goals.
Thats entirely not what I meant. A shared history is a nice feature, but coming to the forums, whining aobut how bad everything is right now and stating that one doesn’t even play any more because how bad things are right now and that EVE should be like it was 15 years ago simple isn’t helpful or constructive in any way. It doesn’t built trust, it doesn’t help newbros.
If your original mates aren’t playing any more and you neither want to find new mates to play with nor want to adapt to the realities of today, just let go. It’s okay, it’s just a game. Go focus time on something else thats valuable.
The lack of motivation to get players to fight for sov for real
Supporting long term players of the community.
For reasons that escape my understanding there hasn’t been a great upheaval since the Casino wars.
For some reason CCP is more focused on burning through short term players than doing anything to retain what was once a dedicated base.
The amount of energy spent on nerfing this game could have been used equally to advance the game forward.
Abyssals and wormholes are pretty neat stuff…but are way too far and in between the endless alienating behavior of both CCP and its most toxic of blabberheads.
There is also incompetence. Leadership / devs that can’t do math stare at stories about single people spending hundreds dollars / month on P2W stores, without consideration of side effects (or looking at facts like how hard the giants who gone P2W had to fall first / keep falling after) they go to the evenly incompetent devs/leadership and tell them about this idea to sound smart.
Then P2W gets added to the game thinking P2W won’t impact anything else whatsoever. Then comes the hammer in subscription losses, and being incompetent they don’t admit they were wrong and rein in the P2W. They unleash it further thinking they just were to soft and need to milk harder, the harder milking makes more losses etc.
Feel free to entertain self by wasting time looking for a game that went up in quality / popularity / income after adding P2W to a game that was quality enough to ever function on a subscription base.
EDIT There actually is one, that had a very reined P2W mechanic added, but it has since decayed due to thinking P2W could be increased. So it was only temporary.
What context? You said in your post this nostalgia wasn’t good for anyone and that nobody cared for it. Which is completely incorrect. You seem to not care about it. Fine. Then don’t. Other people do care.
Sucker! While kinda just kidding, Why? What is left in the game for you? I joined to beat the best the game world had to offer. This game used to give me a chance to outsmart players who were even smarter than I. Their now long gone and I’m stuck with you.
I made new friends over the years, picked new activities to master over the years, set new goals over the years and now found my fun in organizing things in an alliance of like-minded, chilled and not-so-serious people. I learned to avoid tryhards, 1337-pr0s and cholerics, egomaniacs and self-proclaimed “leaders” and just play the game I the way I like. Sharing my experience with others, helping them to find their own way in this big and sometimes pretty complex universe.
And tbh, if you believe there aren’t many extremly smart and skilled players around, you are completely wrong. Both in the economic part and the combat part of the game there are guys around that would simply wipe the floor even with most other players and gangs. The guys I used to fly with 15 years ago have long gone, today I fly with others, not nessessary worse players (both in the skill- nor in the social aspect).
I just try not to live exclusively in a past long gone.
