What Does Legion Mean For You?

If you didn’t feel like skimming through 16+ hours of FanFest livestreams, what does the upcoming EVE expansion called Legion mean for the average player who doesn’t reside exclusively in null-sec? Here’s a very condensed version…
. . . . . . . . . .

Release Date
• Tentatively to be released on May 27

All Ships
• All armor and shield resistances on modules to be buffed by ~11% (basically to pre-Surgical Strike). This is probably the biggest single change that will have a massive affect across all of New Eden.
• New rare storyline versions of MJD, RAH, local ancillary armor repairers/shield boosters.
• Colorized Neocom icons (small palette).
• New hull fires VFX (hull damage) including firefighting BOBs (in-station).

Sub-Capitals
• 11 new re-modelled cruiser hulls (VFX).
• Thorax and Rupture get a small rebalance.
• New Triglavian Marauder (if you’re just reading this now, you’re way late to the party to try to find materials to build).

Capitals
• Fighter nerf (space superiority fighters).
• New Angel dreadnought.

Logistics
• “Savior” implant set now grants equal bonus to reduced capacitor need.
• Remote repair diminishing returns relaxed.
• Repair bonus when heating all remote armor, shield and mutadaptive repairers.
• Logsitcs cruiser rebalance; T3C core powergrid buff.

Scanning
• New “Wedge” pirate implant set (bonus to virus coherence for data/relic analyzers).
• New Faction scanning upgrade module (bonus to probe strength, scan time and scan deviation).

My personal favorite things and some random thoughts.
(Old bitter-vet high-sec carebear)

Revert to pre-Surgical Strike:
∘ Abyssal Deadspace will become easier, more runners? More materials? Cheaper Triglavian ships? Cheaper Abyssal running fits? Affects implant markets because of this?
∘ From the point of view of a new player doing solo pvp maybe more time on grid leading to actually having time to wrap your head around what is happening leading to more fun?

Hull fire, new models & BOBs in station
∘ I’m big for graphics, sci-fi & the general beauty of Eve-Online visuals wise. Yes please. More.
∘ BOBs are awesome. Industrial or industrial related side is of Eve is far too little represented visually.
∘ Heron could also use remodelling no? But everything due time. The new looks were super cool. More please.

Scanning & Hacking stuff
I don’t know. These already mostly only benefit those with super low skills. It’s easy to enough get e.g. high enough scan probe strength for ones needs. And what is missing from the list is Exploration Escalations. Maybe there are above 109 scan strength sites and more tought nodes to beat. Idk idk. Scan time is always welcome.

∘ Freelancer Jobs is a wild card. But i do love what i heard. Yes.
∘ New Storyline stuff? I like it. Yes please.
∘ Something for logi-bros <3

It’s a null-sec recruiting tool (only). There’s zero benefit to the average player, because it’s all designed around outsourcing ADM to use as a “hook” to reel-in new players.

10k new players every week and only ~500 stick around. So they want to decrease this churn and provide a steady stream of new bodies to fill the depleted cogs in null-sec.

No benefit to high-sec, low-sec or wormhole space. Zero. In fact, it make make it more challenging for those corporations to recruit.

I understand what your saying. Fair enough!

Though, before launch, not to talk about how things tend to evolve, improve or get worse within time, the following statement seems a bit extreme for me.
It’s a null-sec recruiting tool (only). There’s zero benefit to the average player

We could see some sort of shenanigans happen with e.g. NPC stations limited corporation office slots. CCP did state that it’s designed as recruitment tool in mind but i doubt it will, atleast after some time, exclude other possible ways to be utlized.

What comes to mind is:

  • Faction Warfare. I find the idea of having in-game tools to safely and reliably hire mercenaries very interesting. Not only Faction Warfare but groups like these can do things like these possibly via utilizing Freelancer Jobs.
  • You can now offer Corporation Projects but Alliance wide. This will for sure see a lot use within groups. (Though i don’t understand why the existing Corporation Projects don’t simply have “Share with alliance” checkbox or something already…)
  • I know this is a farstretched thing to say. Or maybe not. But the missions… Never ending madnes within the community. The outdated missions. Should they exist. Should they be updated. Should there be NPC missions at all or no. Maybe. Just maybe. This can, atleast at some point, work as a pre-pre-pre-stepping stone towards some kind of change regarding missions as a whole.

They specifically presented it as a recruiting tool after clearly stating they’re not doing anything to expand the new player experience. There’s nothing really ambiguous here - it’s cut and dry.

You can expect to see all high-sec NPC stations in Caldari and Amarr space to have all available office slots vanish in the coming weeks. So this doesn’t bode well for smaller corporations.

Could this framework be expanded to overhaul mission? Yes, in theory - but only if both the projects and mission pockets are AI generated through Freelance when accepted. This might also run contrary to efforts for null-sec to recruit, so…

I definitely don’t see this being expanded to a non-corporation level (player-designed projects) - which personally would’ve been a really cool idea.

None of this affects my play styles other than the resists change, I don’t really do the whole fomo/minmaxing thing and I don’t care about my wallet much. All that really changes is “oohh nicer graphics, cool”.

Yep, resist changes will be awesome (and long overdue!)

I’m not a fan

Of the resist changes or the expansion?

higher resists = more difficulty taking apart tanky carebears.

I like being a tanky carebear…

Yes, and it will help this carebear to be more tanky :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I need more ointment for my legion.

I mean, seems redundant when the blackglass already exists

That was also one of the comments someone else posted over the weekend.

I assume itll be not a matter of ‘redundancy’ but of ‘supply into the market’ issue from CCP. Pirate implants are easier to acquire and supply into the market. Spreading the proverbial “wealth” around, rather than limiting it to a few farmers who are in the “know” of how to gain items and to make it more generally available for people which will drive the cost down and mean juicier killmails for explorer pods. Then CCP can also tweak supply and demand curves easier as well in the future.

Seems to be supplied just fine and its dirt cheap, sounds like redundant implants to me

I dont see the purpose of freelance jobs but thats because I dont fully understand what they are, how they work, and why they couldnt just be tasks assigned to a corpmate.

If you needed fuel delivered to your Astrahaus there are indy corps that will just do that for you

Scamming should be buffed also. :slightly_smiling_face:
Scammers have been neglected for too long. We need love too.
