Hello EVE professionals,

Can you imagine being one of the original devs on EVE and seeing it turn into this. They probably dont care
Do you actually have anything to contribute or is this just a form of “forum ganking” for you? Maybe you should, I dunno - play the game more?
What do you mean?
You were on my ignore list for the longest time. I decided to give you a second chance. Please don’t make me regret that choice…
If CCP thinks players want pay to win its a smart move to make this the case in EVE
CCP decided to advertise the benefits of a subscription more clearly in this subscription-based game.
It’s that easy.
So they think people arent subbing because they dont know about it?
Exactly.
While most players would know already, this screen will help a few new players who are wondering what the benefits of Omega are to make the decision to subscribe.
Smart move then
CCP has something like a 90% churn rate on new players (no idea what this increases to over time, but my guess is probably in excess of 95%).
So you can’t blame them for trying innovative ways to retain or convert players (Freelance, fail; Omega screen, less so).
CCP lacks game-making expertise, pretends otherwise for $100k salaries, and pushes out talent to protect the untalented.
Key word: seem. EVE is as “pay to win” as taxes are “pay to invest”.
There is no winning EVE, only dictating your will on other players.
I’m going to burn for this but here it goes…
EvE is too hyper-aggressive to new players. It’s why the numbers consistently hover at sub 30k every day & new player retention is abysmal.
It will always be a niche game because of this.
If you want the game to ever see 100k players online average again you’re going to have to ban PvP in Hi-Sec entirely and make PvP optional by going to low or null sec.
Times have changed & your average online gamer doesn’t subscribe to the cut throat world EvE is.
They don’t want to sub to “The Purge Online”.
If the game wants to grow it’s going to have to change its priorities in regards to player safety.
ok go grab your torches and pitchforks now.
Pay to access all features and ships and modules..
Yep, that would be the definition of Pay-To-Win.
Gamers want the same as 20 years ago, but EVE has worsened and may decline further before improving.
Been that way since 2003. Alpha clones are just extended trials.
This game is pay to win. Where have you been?
Well, to be honest, the game was originally subscription only. There was no Alpha. They added Alpha in order to bring in more new people, but they had to limit it or lose money.
