A while back there was a F&I proposal about randomly generated warpable objects around gates to make interactions more dynamic at the gates.
I would love to see things like “Cluster of frozen crewman,” “Shattered Hull,” and the like around gates. It would do a lot for the ambience of lowsec and null.
So that’s where your crew went. They’re floating in the silence between ships, occassionally getting obliterated by the exchange of broadsides as the immortals they served so bravely continue their endless, and ultimately meaningless crusade.
uhm you realize 1 ISK the equivalent of money to support a middle to high-middle class family of 5 for an entire year? (includes the house being paid off).
And we trade normally in what? Thousands? Millions? Billions? In the blink of an eye.
That may have been put forward at eves conception however it no longer would be a reasonable exchange rate given the way the game has developed. However even if it’s a 1 to 1 exchange we measure our income in millions per hour. We are still in the insane wealth range.
Ok so what about pilots on those fighter? Are they robot too?
What about planet?
If you blow off the planet that provides crews and human labor then that should struck a big hit into the economic right? Withì those titans and technology in eve i don’t think blow off a planet is a big deal…
So i think those little detail really take a big rơle in eve
And if those crew can’t take the capsuler anymore they could sabotage the ship right? …
I did a little google search and there’s actually a lot of ‘Human’ livestock in Eve. Here’s a list, next time you’re in-game do an item link and you’ll get to see their faces.
I’ll bet a lot of Capsuleer’s have quite a few of those hanging round in their station hangars. Course some of them on that list are rather hard to obtain.
I have a ship crewed entirely by cats! In retrospect, this may not have been the greatest idea since they don’t really seem to understand how to work the equipment.
That sounds like a seriously healthy approach towards gaming! You will be delighted to hear that, once destruction is imminent, a good part of your crew is managing to reach the escape pods! The bad news is that Invisible Space Cthulhu usually catches them to eat them alive! But don’t worry, they still have a long live full of warmth in front of them! He takes the whole escape pods, puts them on a stick and - like a shish kebap -
cooks them slowly at the next best main-sequence star. No one can hear the screams of pain and agony anyway, and they taste so much better when they’re done!
Most of those entities probably are but does it really matter? In-game they’re all tangible items with a lot of backstory and history centered upon them which can be collected and stored in your station hangars. You said the in-game persona’s don’t have a face, which I figured means no substance, personality or history, not even a name.
There’s a lot of named NPC entities that have shaped and influenced Eve over the years. Some of those entities are known only by reputation, meaning there isn’t an actual tangible item representing them in the game. However there are also other items available in-game that signify and solidify their existence in Eve.
Each of these categories (Commodities, Criminal Tags, Empire Insignia Drops, Identification, Livestock, Miscellaneous) listed on this page contain entities or items that relate to them which can be found within the game. As such there’s a lot of story plot’s and history pertaining to those entities which basically gives them all a face.
I remember a long while past reading a chronicle and the story went into detail about a suicidal captain going into battle and the crew abondoning the guns during an encounter. Mutiny is real people
My main is a Gallente guy. I have done some L1 security mission that made me fight against some Caldari ships. I have blown up tens of frigates, destroyers and cruisers, and never saw escape pods. I think he might have already killed thousands of people.
But then again, those guys actually DIE when they are blown up. So, in the eyes of a capsuleer, do they really qualify as people? I mean, we are basically beings of pure information. Those guys are meat popsicles! Gross!
Anyway, I hope my character will have more consideration for his own than the Sisters of Eve have. Their scientist I rescued from the tutorial is STILL in my hangar! And they say WE are the bad guys!
While ISK is significantly more valuable than the various local empire currencies and planetary currencies, I suspect that the avg family makes more than 1 ISK/year. Although it has been referenced in chronicles and such that 1 ISK would support a family for a year, I doubt that. In fact I think that it is closer to 80-100 ISK/year per INDIVIDUAL and not per FAMILY. So in your example a family of 5 would actually make about 400-500 ISK/year putting their lifetime earnings at around 50k ISK which still pales in comparison to what a capsuleer can make in 5 minutes.
At any rate the crew survival rate is going to go up in percentage the larger the vessel simply by virtue of ship function vs crew compliment. Think about it, if you have a smaller ship and smaller crew then there is a very good chance that each member of that crew is performing a vital ship duty if not multiple jobs at once. Whereas in a larger vessel you have the excess crew as mainly for backup and redundant purposes since you already have the space to support the compliment you may as well. Well when time to abandon ship, the redundant crew is going to make it to escape pods a hell of a lot faster than someone who needs to keep aspects of the ship from falling apart as long as possible.
Id imagine for a super cap for example that percentage is probably in the 70-80% survival rate…that is assuming they don’t get picked off by trigger happy pilots…we all know capsuleers love blowing up little pods with blinking lights.
Actually if you compare the rebuilding costs for myrska established recently vs rebuilding a similar sized earth city isk vs dollars should be about a 1 to 1 ratio. Now obviously we use more advanced materials in Eve but if they cost dramatically more we would just use older materials that cost less.
However for game reasons we don’t pay crew bills because constant bills don’t make for a fun game. And that’s probably where the whole 1 isk feeds a family originally got put forward by ccp. But all the more recent stuff really suggests a far closer exchange rate similar to ratios between the major dollars.
We also don’t see escape pods in the game for reasons involving not melting our video cards and not filling pur overview with millions of pods in a big battle. Image drones but times a thousand.
