I’m not going to lie; I haven’t read the entire thread but it did seem to get spicy here and there.

My problem with this thread is actually the OP’er. He has said EvE is S$%t. and his only real example of why it is this way and how to make it better is size. “Make Eve bigger”. I may have misinterpreted this but that is what I got from the 1st post. He/She/Ze/Attackhelicopter/goatfokker said Eve should have more systems because Erectile Dysfunction is bigger (never thought I’d string those three words together). I don’t think that would be a good solution nor do I believe the size of Eve’s “universe” is too small.This is the age old issue of posting a “I don’t like this - FIX IT!” rant instead of a constructive criticism defining exactly what is wrong and then a possible solution.

I agree with this, cos I am was one of them .
90% of my EvE-Life I hunted down other pilots hiding in their small and tiny low-level wormhole.
I have the skill, passion and patient to make them believe they are safe;
untill I hit them hard and take their stuff.
In average I was able to Plex my accounds to 50% with the loot from theese ganks.
Thats gone.

Since the so called WH-Love patch my personal playstyle is not longer possible.
C1 conections are not longer rollable, means C1 and C2(HS/C1)Holes are dead.
C4-C6 have now such amounds of conections that it takes about 50% of my online time a day to keep it save.
My playground is now a barren.

I could easily argue that PVE is the dominate aspect. Actually the data supports that PVE is the dominate part of the game with PVP having a strong influence in gameplay. All we have to do is look at the economic report and you can see that most months more isk worth of materials is mined than destroyed and 2 to 4 times more end products are produced than are destroyed.

We are discussing this from a developers point of view. And the developers are on record stating that PVP is the central aspect of this game.

So logic dictates we make a lot more stuff than we blow up. Thus it is far more logical to conclude Eve is actually a PVE game with a heavy PVP influence. I know you want to argue that its a pvp game. I get it. I use to do the same. It is a pvp game, but pvp is not near as important in Eve as want to believe. So, no its not a misconception on my part, it is a misconception on your part. In reality it is a massive sandbox strategy game in which both pve and pvp play very heavy roles. PVP is basically a large isk sink.

No, if this were true, prices would continuously drop. They havent. They have stabilized, meaning that we are in a balance of destruction and production.

But if you seriously think that PVE and PVP both play very heavy roles, answer this simple question.

When a player is doing either PVP or PVE, is the majority of players more likely to be concerned about other Players, or other NPCs?

You imply that we must have one extreme or another. Either we must be a pvp game or a pve game and those are actually the games that do the worse. My point was that a majority of the people who play mmos like a mix of pvp and pve in their gameplay to various degrees. Very few all pvp or all pve.

Why would that be the implication of what I said, when EVE isnt all PVP or all PVE, and is a mix of both?

I was not advocating for that and honestly hisec is more dangerous than null. In null i know who my friends are and i have intel channels intel maps, comms, and all sorts of tools. Unless you are using needlejack or wormholes( which we close religiously), im going to know you are coming 15-20 jumps out. Im going to have time to get all the info on what your flying, who your flying with, what your killboard stats are, how you fit your ships, and what color underwear you are wearing today and i wont miss a ratting tick while doing it.

What else are you advocating for, then? You said that the majority of people like a mix of PVP and PVE. Eve already has PVP and PVE. And yet youre also saying that EVE needs to adapt to appeal to more people.

So lets not get on the whole " carebears want safe and you should be at risk anywhere in the game" Yeah anywhere except the big blue donut where you have a fleet of caps on standby to hotdrop that cruiser gang that tackles one of your rorqs that left his core on to long. Hisec bears are about the only group that dont have a safe space.

Lets not be dishonest here and admit that Hisec bears are in danger because they choose not to be safe. Everything about the safety of nullsec has to do with players working together to create a safer space, and nothing to do with mechanics that prevent people from being in danger. Any and all hisec residents are free to have a response fleet that hovers around their mining fleet with logis and tornadoes. They can have many player alts in different systems looking out. They choose not to, because it takes effort. Too much effort. Thats the difference between Hisec and Nullsec. Hisec is kept safe due to mechanics, nullsec is kept safe due to the diligence and effort of players.

Have spent is the key there not will spend. It is a well known fact that all MMOs need a constant stream of new blood. Those MMOs have to appeal to that new blood. Eve has never been good at appealing to the masses but it was good, for awhile, at player retention. But the last few years, that has changed as the company has become more profit driven and less quality and player driven. New players need to replace those lost vets that use to spend money. So the game needs to appeal to drawing new players not living in yesteryear so a couple thousand bitter vets can talk about the days of old.

The standard definition of pvp is players in combat with other players.

PvP stands for Player Versus Player. Versus does not mean that they are hitting each other, it means their goals are in opposition (otherwise that would be Players Cuddling Players)

Let’s take an example. If there was no PVP, people would not care about getting ganked in HS, and thus would always fly expensive officer fit ships in HS. There are possible gank, so you need to take that into account when playing, or accept a loss. That’s why it’s PVP, even if you don’t try to shoot at any one.

It doesnt matter what CCCP wants, the game is living its own life and it would be time to realise their bully behaviour is NOT working on most of the players.
