I have never paid attention to the missions or very much lore in this game, but this event prompted me to start doing missions and reading the texts!
This leads me to ask an important question and like a child with a book, I wish to know the end! What is Quafe and why do these pirates believe it is being used to control people?
Quafe is a Gallente Corporation that makes soft fizzy drinks. They have ties with the Caldari State, and use questionable ingredients in their products, including biomassed corpses, and sub-cranial nanite controllers. The later of which have been accused of swaying various elections within the Federation.
As it stands only Quafe+ was every confirmed to include human biomass(and was discontinued for it, as it happens when it got out) , and not all versions of Quafe still in circulation include SCNCs.
Context is kind of important.
Also before it comes up, the Quafe Booster for Capsuleers is not the same product used in beverages, because someone will inevitably bring up the disclaimer tied to the Quafe booster as if its for the drink products.

Lost Stars chronicle, specifically in regard to the Quafe+ Product Line, which was discontinued and shuttered when the usage of human biomass was discovered by higher ups at Quafe and the public.
As far as we’re aware it was the only time human biomass was used in a Quafe product

Should we all not be getting royalties from that? One might say we were intimately involved in its creation! 
Quafe is, in fact, a major political entity as well as a carbonated beverage manufacturer, and roughly 2 decades ago their diplomats stopped a conflict with the Amarr.

Well quafe got in the Intaki ordeal when Lai Dai came up with subcranial nanos, which goes well with the “quafe is trying to mindcontrol” people theory
