…and now, for something completely different…

The Alan Parsons Project - Pyramania (1978)

…I was today years old when I noticed that this song actually is about pyramids and was inspired by the Tutankamon/Egypt craze in the '70s…

Lyrics

There are pyramids in my head
There’s one underneath my bed
And my lady’s getting cranky
Every possible location
Has a simple explanation
And it isn’t hanky-panky

I had read
Somewhere in a book
They improve all your food and your wine, it said
That everything you grow in your garden
Would taste pretty fine, instead
All I ever get is a pain in the neck
And a yap-yap-yap-yap-yap-yap-yap-yap

I’ve consulted all the sages
I could find in yellow pages
But there aren’t many of them
And the Mayan panoramas
On my pyramid pajamas
Haven’t helped my little problem

I’ve been told
Someone in the know
Can be sure that his luck is as good as gold
Money in the bank
And you don’t even pay for it, if you fold
A dollar in the shape
Of the pyramid that’s printed on the back

It’s no lie
You can keep the edge
Of a razor as sharp as an eagle’s eye
You can grow a hedge
That is vertically straight over ten feet high
All you really need is a pyramid and just a little luck

La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-ooh
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-ooh

I had read
Somewhere in a book
They improve all your food and wine
And I’ve been told
Someone in the know can be sure of his good luck
And it’s no lie
All you really need is a little bit of pyramidic help

It didn’t help that first time I heard it was from a tape recorded by my father and Pyramania played right after this one…

The Alan Parsons Project - Lucifer (1979)

…so I kind of assumed that when they said “pyramania” it was “pyromania” an never gave it a second thought. Until today.

Tarkan - Simarik (1997)

I totally blame this one on Lord Odysseus. :woman_frowning:

No, not really. I just remembered this version…

Stella Soleil - Kiss kiss (2001)

But first mistook it for this one, which just sounded off from what was playing in my memory…

Holly Valance - Kiss Kiss (2002)

And once located the right version, I remembered that it actually was a version of something a tad more obscure (unless you trust YT comments, according to whom “Simarik” is still being blasted in Turkey and just refuses to die)

Thompson Twins - Lies (1982)

Remember to never debate with a liar*: debunk them or ignore them.

*every fanatic, denialist or religious zealot is a liar by definition; they lie to reality, lie to reason, lie to you and of course will lie to themselves whenever they feel a hint of a doubt or intellectual honesty

…and now, for something completely different…

A double serving.

Coz - Las chicas son guerreras (1980)

This one was extremely successful and its refrain “las chicas son guerreras” became a meme. Literally it means “girls are warriors/fighters” but not in a literal sense (armor and blade), rather meaning that they put up a fight, take the initiative, they kick things around… a solid departure from the passive, submissive woman shoehorned by the fascist regime just ended in 1975… Now, feminists absolutely despise this one because it still is… say… naively sexist… but back in 1980 it was a big thing.

And then was this one which will make feminists go berserk but it also was a way to… naively… praise non-submissive women by their ability to be sexy. Yeah, yeah.

Coz - Más sexy (1980)

The title is literally “sexyer”. Undo another button. Pose like Marilyn. Picture yourself by King Kong. If you wanna ride my bike, you gotta be sexy.

Also very successful but not as meme-like as “las chicas son guerreras”.
