It actually is a song about working retail for minimum wage (the “magnificent seven” are the 7 hours of work +1 for lunch of a 9 to 5 schedule) and how it already sucked in the 1970’s. Now it still sucks, but also is worse because ~Capitalism~, as now companies pretend to provide a service which the customers pretend to pay for with the wages the employers pretend to pay in exchange for pretending that 9 people can do the job of 10 with the salary of 8… and next year more, because The Economy Must Grow!
