What’s the purpose of Ganking?

Did you check the damage done by the Talos battlecruisers?

A talos can easely pull that much dps using all damage modules and tracking in med slots. Look at the talos and you will see it is made for using battleship weapons.

Concord kills the whole aggressor fleet after 10 or so seconds. Alt/ friend of gankers fly’s to freighter get all the loot. After some time sells it and shares profit.

Rinse and repeat

PS: Concord does not protect it only punishes ( in about 10 seconds guaranteed death to the aggressor.

Not always.
Concord frequently accepts bribes to look the other way.

As for the purpose … there’s several

  • to ruin someone else’s day
  • the potential value of the loot-drop far exceeds the fitted cost of the ship(s) needed to create the wreck
  • because you can
  • you’re a RP’er
  • they are in a hostile corporation or alliance
  • they are a valid war target
  • they are a valid suspect target
  • revenge

it’s not an exhaustive list … theres other reasons too

A few thoughts on these.

As a tool to deal with a hostile corp / alliance ganking is useless. Yes you may get the occasional fool or lazy person, however with alt characters, alt corporations and contracted hauling services to those characters / corporations the gankers have no way of knowing which ship is carrying stuff that belongs to that hostile corp / alliance. In other words it would be pure random chance that gankers actually killed a ship that belonged to the proper corp.

If they are a valid war target then it is not a gank is it, it is simply a kill logged in a war dec.

Like war decs, if they are a valid suspect target then it is not a gank you are simply killing a legal target the presents itself.

I think I’m already there man.
