I first stopped playing eve around the early 2010’s (the old schoolers will understand - i started playing eve around christmas 2005 when i took a month break from the disaster that was Star Wars Galaxies post reboot). I started again for a few months in like 2015 and then stopped. I thought a few years ago about coming back and logged in one character (in space in minnie carrier loaded with ships in nul sec - obviously in the many years the original station was long gone) and then quickly logged out and dropped it.
Looking to maybe start playing again. Have two accounts with 1 main each that had between (if i remember correctly) 130 mm to 140 mm skill points each. One pve and one pvp centric (the pve had capital skills and i think some t2 skills).
Worth trying to get them to safety or not? I don’t for the life of me remember the clone situation for either
I think it’s probably worthwhile to try and salvage whatever you can from the situation. Get your characters into a safe area, asset safety anything you can’t bear to part with, and see if you can find somewhere to start fresh.
If you think the pilots/ships are in a situation where they might get targeted and blown away shortly after logging in, try to pick a low-pop time, or maybe right after downtime, so you have an extra few minutes to look over the situation.
Depending where they are, if there are stations you can dock at, you have the options of selling stuff locally and just flying the pilot wherever. Or set up a contract for Black Frog or someone to ship your goods out. CCP has even been known to give long-away pilots the option of stuffing a single ship full of whatever you can fit and relocating it for you in some cases (you’d have to file a ticket for that I believe, not sure what type though).
If stuff has gone to asset safety, you may be able to select a near-ish station to send it to. If so, do your research and pick a good one. It costs ISK to get your stuff out of safety, something like 15% of the estimated value.
If you can’t make use of a local station or citadel, find who controls the space they’re in and start negotiating for an arranged exit from another char. Be prepared for that to fail spectacularly, of course, depending who you’re negotiating with.
