So why are you going after Hulks? They can destroy an entire rock in 30 seconds. They are the least AFK mining ship in the game.
I’m not criticizing you- do what you gotta do. But you’re not hunting AFK ships.
Over the years, cycles have been shortened and yields have been increased. A max yield Hulk with implants can pull probably 120 cubic meters every second. That’s a full hold every 1.5 minutes (i don’t use mining implants) and that’s not counting drones. Plus, you have to target new rocks every 30 to 60 seconds or your lasers shut off due to the current rock getting vaporized.
So no… you don’t go after AFK miners. You go after mostly the active ones. Again- not criticizing. I dipped my toe in your world just like you once asked me to. It’s a game and you do it well.
Most miners warp to the belt, target a rock, start mining, and walk away from the computer. After I arrest them, they autopilot to Jita, and then come back to try again. That’s their gameplay loop.
There’s no issue with miners. Those few miners that do have issues have no doubt been unduly harassed by bumping and ganking. It’s not like mining is really an exciting profession - being rather monotonous, tedious and ultimately not very rewarding when compared to other activities.
I mean - I get going after the huge multi-boxing and botting mining fleets. But I don’t think these generally present easy targets, and the reality is that more often than not - it’s the solo or small group that tends to get picked on. A great example is these ore anomalies for Military Campaigns. Easy targets, no? I mean, most are in 0.5 systems. Why aren’t they being ganked? Probably because they’ve been told not to by the higher ups as some corporations and alliances are making bank on mining these rare ores.
The point bears mentioning again: Consensual PvP. You can bump, gate-camp and gank your target market out of existence - or you can adapt, evolve and push for more consensual PvP content. And then make you actually get more of what you crave - instead of less…
Bumping and ganking are not harassment.
CCP has been repeatedly very clear on this.
That is normal expected intentional gameplay.
When I was elected High Queen of Gankerdom, I did a support ticket just to verify with CCP. I said, “I intend to kill all the miners, is that allowed?” and the official CCP response was, “We see no issue with this. Good luck, capsuleer!”
This from the bumper/ganker. You may not view it as such (and let’s be honest, you don’t!), but I hardly think you’re providing a community service like the Magic School Bus, either.
Bumping and ganking are explicitly allowed. That IS the game. Calling it harassment diminishes the reality of actual harassment. You don’t need to bring Mike Azariah into this discussion, he is already on the record as agreeing with me. I provide a community service: I kill AFKs, bots, farmers, and plebs.
Not a new player. He’s been playing the game more than a decade longer than me. I’m the new player, and I’m making skillful use of existing game mechanics, which allow new players to have a chance against boomerbears.
Pretty sure Mike indicated in his last video that he’s in the process of transitioning from his travels between the Empires and Exordium to Exordium exclusively. In the Bowhead that he doles ships out of…
Hence why I used Mike (but in the past Chribba provided a ton of stuff to the EVE community).
LOL, me. I’m never AFK, but I might be UAK - Unconscious At Keyboard. If so, it’s because I’ve been awake for a day and a half and that benadryl I took two hours ago finally kicked in.
“Aiko Danuja STFU and make me a sandwich” - I’ll give you points on creativity! lol
Well, it’s a 40-member corporation - and I don’t use zkillboard enough to claim to be familiar enough with it to make this determination) - so I’ll have to take you at face value. Based on the cargo it looked like an Abyssal runner? Didn’t realize Abyssals were at the botting stage…
You seem to kill a lot of MTUs and Exhumers… (with Macs being a favorite).
