WHY CCP SCAM PEOPLE?

You don’t need to have a mental issue to have problems with Hypernet (trust me, I’d know - I’m one of the most mentally-■■■■■■ up people in here).

You just need to be bad at math.

At least if you’re putting all of your money on black in a casino, you are playing your odds, and giving the house a cut for the privilege of being provided the environment.

It takes rudimentary math to see why Hypernet is a massively-losing proposition.

Edit: wow, I can’t believe how quickly you people liked my post in which I basically call myself a retard.

Second edit: what the ■■■■, stop it…

You’re right. I meant ‘weird’ more along the lines of “why didn’t they provide a UI for players to do this themselves?” - and I don’t think they even stated this was an option (disable via ticket) when it came out, but only when it was raised as concerns on forums and it was mentioned after-the-fact. Basically the manner in which this opt-out is undocumented and inaccessible is weird.

Attributing fun to stupid is stupid. Playing Russian Roulette can be described as fun. Jumping out of a plane 10km off the ground without a parachute can be described as fun. Anything that is almost strictly detrimental to yourself can be described as fun - and it’s stupid to do so.

Vices exist on a spectrum - at some point, their “benefits” approach zero and their detriments approach infinity. It’s not worth describing anything that far off as fun.

This is one of the problems with HyperNet… in EVE, you can easily ■■■■ yourself due to stupidity - that’s just how EVE is and, apart from improving player education, this isn’t something that needs to change; however, in HyperNet you can ■■■■ yourself due to stupidity OR psychological addiction. THAT is a huge problem, especially since you can be a genius statistician and still succumb to addiction despite having all the probabalistic distributions and economic forecasting you can crunch out of MATLAB and Wolfram Mathematica, etc.

I actually did didn’t like your post because you said that, I liked it because of what I quoted above :point_up_2:

If you’re gambling away 50b to begin with, you got what was coming to you.

So consider giving that money away to a good cause next time, ie: I take isk donations.

Thank you.

You can raise a ticket any time about anything if you’re unsure or send a request to support, they answer on whether something is possible or not.

You’re welcome to raise the “visibility” of this with the CSM

What is annoying is the pontificating and virtue signalling from those that simply have not even done what they try to preach to others, they do not even disable it themselves then proceed to demand things are removed or pontificate oh lord o mighty about it

Kind of like the pope or queen/king sitting on their golden throne drinking from their golden cup preaching to others to give away their wealth and hiding behind bullet proof glass preaching to others to not be afraid of dying.
