Why do the devs want us to hate other players?

I do a warpath grid and waste my time for 25 minutes only for some W@#%$r to come in in a frigate, secure one site that I have almost secured, wait for me to finish the rest and all I can do is tell him what a arsehole he is in chat? Why do you do this? It’s one thing to be ganked or beat in a fight we can all say gf and get on with the game but this really pisses me off and makes me not want to waste my time playing the game.:face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

I’ve had a bunch of sites pilfered from Jackdaws (etc.) after doing all the work. It is what it is - try not to get too bent out of shape over it. In terms of cutthroat competition, this event is fairly tame compared to some of the others…

I could also mention that EVE is a PvP game (“Everyone” vs. "Everyone), so some player interaction from time to time is to be expected…

Or they just hate you.

Not all players are like that.

In my opinion, developers aren’t doing it. What they’ve done is given a lot of rope/freedom to players. Also freedom to be dicks. Just block the guys you don’t like and move on. And set them red with an appropriate label. Next time they show up in your system, you’ll know it.

Hush you. They already utterly destroyed player competition in this event by handing out 50k raw HP to every ship on grid at the turn-in sites. At least the Federation Election event let us gank people who showed up with their entire campaign haul in a frigate.

I’d love to see a bubble go up if you steal the event reward (along with a suspect flag).

Rage quiting is a thing in Eve.

This annoyed me to. So I completed the event doing lvl 4 missions.

This event was tortuous…

At least players had to put in some effort. Unlike previous years where it was log in for 10 seconds, claim daily event reward and ships, log out…

That time was glorious. I remember people complaining in the forums to constantly getting free stuff while they just want to play the game without having to constantly click and redeem and manage the free stuff.

Doesn’t really matter how you do it. Someone will always complain in the most shameful way.

Freedom is a double-edged sword, really. You can be as altruistic as Chribba or Mike’s School Bus Initiative, or you can go as hardcore as Erotica1 and actually get kicked by FC for playing. But know that people will do things simply because they can and are exercising their freedom, youll need to know where your boundaries are in game for this type of behaviour.

What I would really like with these events is an auto-claim (redeem).

Except that’s not the reaction most players will have. The more common reaction is that players who shoot a suspect and then lose their ship is to ragequit. Because they cannot accept personal responsibility for having made a poor decision. I’m guessing FCCP intentionally chose to spare players ship losses.

I disagree. I think players ragequit because they don’t understand some of the combat nuances in EVE. Like how duels and suspect flags are just another form of seal clubbing.

… so then you think players will ragequit because they “don’t understand some of the combat nuances” even if they win the fight? I guess it’s possible, sure.

This occurred with me doing a complex. I completed all the waves and got all 4 merc kills. That’s what I’m actually there for. But a guy in a tristan came in during the last wave and seemingly stole the loot because there was nothing inside. Fine.

But he did not go flashy yellow.

He just waltzed in in the 11th hour, did basically nothing and walked off with my loot. While the loot is nothing to me in and of itself, it’s still a matter of principle. He stole and did not go suspect. I was in a rocket breacher and he had T1 drones.

I actually was coming to the forums to ask if this was normal or a bug when I saw this topic. Am I to assume this is by design? Is EVE going full carebear now?

I think most players that are victims of theft, duels and ganking (all seal clubbing) who don’t win are predisposed to quit because it’s really hard to understand some of the combat mechanics. And by and large, a lot of these defy logic and don’t make a lot of sense.

This isn’t a complaint - merely an observation. Now I’m not saying these kind of victims all quit - just that they’re predisposed to after experiencing this kind of loss.

The devs didnt do anything.

The game is designed for you to just grow accustomed to hating other players. Its the only way youll survive it. There no repercussions to committing crimes here and that will always lead to hate and resentment.
You cant like every single person you meet…even in real life. Its a natural defense that guards you from danger. Its your armor per se.

This game defines and fine tunes that very well.
