My idea of chilling is distribution missions.
Other peoples idea of chilling is smartbombing the fking Ahbazon gate or station gangking.

I have been on a distribution mission kick lately, but it’s mostly because due to work, my play time has been cut lately.

I like mining but i keep being told this is a PVP only game and i need to buy permits etc.
NPC corp full of days with players asking for help then getting blown to bits and told to leave by Safety so they go and you dont see them again.
Her commercials are something about pies in a gibberish drawl.
But I might get back into distro.

Ah, Jah’Ruels (an intriguing name, but we’ll let that pass), one of the problems in the more active of the forums is people talking about things which they haven’t properly investigated themselves, and expecting not to be challenged by competent authorities.
Alas for him, Gix seems to have the unending task of correcting some of the wilder assertions made by posters here and there. Would that I had a fifth of his knowledge of the game!
He can be blunt, granted, but some folks get ‘blunt’ where they might struggle with verbiage like mine (I do try, you know).
I guess he can’t help himself but talking shiat, regardless of whether or not he does have that task, task given by whom I wonder…

There are always a dozen or two posters around whose primary activity is simply talking sh1te at other posters.
EVE’s advertising and public buzz kind of yells “Do you enjoy being a dick to other people? Then come play EVE!” so you end up with a certain population of people who enjoy being a-holes simply because they can be. Maybe their life sucks, maybe they’re role-playing, maybe anonymous virtual posting is their only chance to be an a-hole in life and they need the outlet.
Usually it appears to be a method of over-compensating for personality flaws and setting up an “I’m better/badder/smarter than you” dynamic. Sometimes they know nothing at all, sometimes they’re knowledgeable about the game. After all, if you’re propping up your self-image with your EVE persona, you might be motivated to learn all you can about the game.
Grab the nuggets of useful information where you can, ignore the blustering. After all they’re just naked apes anonymously beating their chest on the interwebs trying to be noticed.

I have muted him here and in game. He is constantly attacking and belittling everyone. He is highly abusive in game chat channels especially to newer players. Not the only one either.

I follow the gamall vegur son. These bruvs have been babysat too long. How hard is to press F10 and figure out the map? How hard is to use zkills and DOTLAN? How hard is it to spend 10 minutes Googling information so that you don’t get wtfpwned when you undock?

Whats more funny is I’ve helped alot of newbros since coming back. I’ve also given them the actual tools to survive New Eden. The lack of gamall vegur is apparent on this forum. Its also what has allowed Aiko and co to be so successful.
EVE’s need for mining is due to the heart of the game, which is spaceships blowing up. Miners need to be educated and aware of all the threats they face, so that they are able to mine effectively. This means learning F10. This means learning zkill and DOTLAN and other tools. This means learning SP wise tank/fitting skills and learning how to make safes/watch local/operate standings and paying attention.
You think you’re helping them by being this way. You aren’t. You are crippling them. You are setting them up to get ganked and salted. I am giving them the freedom of their own lives and accountability. Remember #4 of the creed: Death is a friend and he always finds you, and when he does it is your fault.

All I want is an educated player base. One that takes full ownership of their experience and fun. Who put in the work to walk the gamall vegur.
Instead we live in these shallower times. Where most of the citizens of New Eden cry and can barely function in the universe. We need to return to the gamall vegur. Equip them with the proper perspective so they can thrive. Not as a victim, but as the hero of their own story.
If you’re gonna mine, mine right. Learn the ins and outs, the tactics and the ways/means to survive. Know that space is cold and antimatter is a certainty and plan accordingly. Find people you can trust and hold them close. Carve out a place in New Eden for yourself and for those who share in those goals.
This is the gamall vegur. All of your crying is embarrassing. You shed enough tears to wash Blood Raider stations clean. Return to the old ways. Or simply learn them.
