Why is it so easy to recover bad security status. Endless suicide ganking in high sec with 0 penalty

Here’s a thought…

…maybe you should maneuver your spaceship away from hostile fleets?

…maybe that is the gameplay you need to get good at?

First of all, I’m not lying. You can look up my security status in-game and my killboard activity. I fly every sortie as a -10. That’s a fact. So yes, it is true.

What you are talking about next also falls into the hula-hoop category. You are essentially saying that if I succeed, then the system is not difficult enough, so we have to add more obstructions and difficulty until I can no longer possibly succeed. Only then is the system “fixed.” It’s the same argument that Done25 is making, just repackaged differently.

Look, I don’t succeed by design. I succeed despite it. The design hates the ■■■■ out of me! As a -10, everyone can shoot me. Faction police hunt me down. I can’t dock. I can’t stand still. I have a blood-red skull next to my name so everybody knows I’m trouble. Honestly, what else do you want? :joy:

If you are this adamant about redesigning and screwing up my core gameplay, can I also screw up yours? Removing cynos, deleting ore compression, removing filaments, removing marauders, restricting faction warfare ships to their respective factions, and whatever else I can think of? There are tons of ideas we could bounce around, some more sensible than others, that would completely destroy the way you play the game. And I could find rational-sounding arguments for every single one of them.

Would you then also soapbox about how me completely wrecking your gameplay, potentially even destroying the game itself, is good design and “necessary”? Would you?

You mean people like you?
My suspicion was already pretty cleanly confirmed by your earlier posts:

That’s your real issue. You don’t think it takes skill at all. So you believe the game just hands us victims on a silver platter, that ganking is so easy and so profitable that nobody can fail, and that it’s all CCP conspiring against the playerbase because multibox gankers pay for the servers and they don’t want to lose their revenue stream and yadda yadda yadda. Just stop.

CCP, honestly, does not like gankers. You only have to look at the changes made over the years to see that ganking has been made less and less attractive with almost every patch. Immense EHP buffs (an Orca with potentially more EHP than a fully fit dreadnought), layers of additional hurdles and restrictions, mechanics that punish gankers brutally. All of this gets conveniently ignored in the rage against the supposedly mighty and infallible gankers.

I’ll give you a simple example to highlight your bias. Take this random Touhou speedrun:

Your rant in this thread is equivalent to saying:
“LOL this game is so easy!!! It’s all fixed patterns, you just move your character to the same spot every time and you win. Where is the gameplay?? What do you mean “SKILL”??? LMAOO xDD”

Do you see how deranged that sounds to anyone with even a faint acquaintance with ganking? Do you understand that it may only look easy because some of us have practiced it like absolute maniacs until we achieved complete mastery?

If you don’t, that’s fine. You are free to wallow in that belief and never figure out how to improve your play or make yourself gankproof in 99% of circumstances. My killboard and my wallet will thank you. You’re also free to get hung up on this last paragraph and literally ignore everything else I said.
THAT - is EVE Online!

You being a -10 really invalidates the argument that you are abusing security tags. I wonder what new complaint they will invent?

My guess: existing!

He seems to have the view that gankers killed him, therefore ganking is overpowered. I wonder if he will ever try to, I dunno, avoid the gank?

That’s an idea…

Ah yes. Let me keep my Bastion’ed Marauder aligned out for warping. That’s soooo brilliant. How did I never think of that!? Come on Aiko. I know you’re a lot smarter than you pretend to not be. You didn’t get to where you are today by being a lucky idiot.

That’s actually a completely seperate issue from the security tag one. I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make. Perhaps I have over estimated your intelligence.

You need to bastion somewhere that is safe. If you can’t bastion safely in Highsec, you simply aren’t prepared for lowsec. I suggest you try flying a cheaper ship until you learn how to play the game.

In all honesty? Nothing really. Not for the way you play the game. My complaint was that tags made it too easy to disable the Outlaw mechanic by giving on demand, and infinite, Security Status resets. You gank successfully in spite of being an Outlaw. I honestly don’t know why you’re being so hyper aggressive about this.

So you wish to honor James for his elite PvP?

I can support that.

Great job, @James_Fuchs

Yep. At no point did I ever say you shouldn’t be allowed to gank in high sec. I only said that you shouldn’t be both allowed to gank, and then go consequence free afterwards.

You shouldn’t be able to mine consequence free.

The consequence of mining is that you waste your life making pennies when you could do basically anything else to make more income.

I don’t think you understand the concept of gameplay.

If the current systems has little practical inconvenience to the players who perma -10, what worth is that same system that allows the rich to avoid even that irritation with security status tags?

Those are actually good ideas. Ore compression should not be instant, neither should ore refining. Both should be an industry job, just like targeted prismatic ore refining. The removal of cyno would be amazing ( and did happen one day due to a CCP bug that made every anomaly count as deadspace in low sec and null ) though now that fillaments ( which were the most anti-pvp mechanic ) have a spool up they are no longer the get out of pvp jail re-roll they used to be.

Marauders can’t blob in ESS anymore, sure, the bastion changes make them a bit harder to alpha off during a long rep cycle, though I do not own one and never will, so I would not miss them one bit.

That is the difference though, when one character engages in a single myopic path of gameplay, its quite more problematic for that player since it is impacting %100 of their gameplay, where as changes where the character does different activities might decide the latest exploration changes are kind of cooked and do more ice mining.

Probably the best changes are ones that have an isolated and measurable effect, it would be nice if CCP quit messing with multiple mechanic changes at once and did more focused and incremental changes. Imagine if DBS and MESS were introduced independently? It was such a cluster people were generally relieved when CCP kinda just threw their hands in the air and decided to just float the average to %150, cap the low at %100 ( instead of %30 payout which was awful) and call it a day.

For CCP to look at the system as a whole and close the obvious loopholes. Security tags are an out for the rich. Docking restrictions as a -10 is meaningless when people can use alts, or even just eject ships out into a POS where the -10 knows the password.

Simply changing the -10 docking restriction to a boarding restriction in high security space ( eg rookie ships and shuttles only ) is a much more meaningful consequence whilst doing nothing to preventing the choice to be a pirate or a ganker.

No doubt it will be pointed out grinding sec status in rookie ships or low sec is not fun. Of course not, its not meant to be, the whole point of implementing a meaningful consequence. The player base would likely be far more content knowing every time a -10 sec status catalyst blew up a retriever for not having the scamming permit up to date, that same catalyst pilot will not be back 15 minutes later to do it again and is instead spending some quality time killing level 1 mission frigs in a ibis for the next 8 hours.

If the amount of ISK required to get from -4.5 back to 0 seems small to you. Absurdly small to add up, then you must be so rich that ganking should not concern you at all.

Why does it then?

It became very expensive in last few month. So much that some of us are farming them ourselves. Isn’t that what you wanted? In fact with current prices it is much more efficient to PLEX another account, on which you farm them few days a month. 1 month of omega without discount is roughly 65 tags. That can be acquired in like 3 days of farming. And for the rest of the month you have a “free ganker”.

6 hidden replies. suit yourselves

That Avalanche could have been fit better to avoid being ganked
