Given you posted about an hour ago, I suspect it was downtime.
You are notified in the notifications stream, and also for the last five minutes there is a countdown on screen - middle of the screen, about a quarter of the way down from the top of the screen.
Downtime is every day at 11:00 UTC (or “New Eden Standard Time” if you prefer!) - this is the time given in the bottom left corner of the window. Downtime happens to allow various database resets and other game feature restarts to occur, though CCP are working to eliminate the need for downtime, Eve is complex.

Every day the EVE universe collapses and must be recreated, it also happens to the world in real each night when you sleep.
That explains last night’s dream.
And I thought it was a cheese toastie.
