This honestly sounds like a colossal waste of time.
A new player can be helped to play comfortably on their own within 2-3 days without requiring âplayer guided tutorialsâ or this weird â4331â thing. Not everyone has the time to be hand held, nor are there enough people (competent ones) who are going to effectively take on a second job like this.
Newbie focused corporations have already managed to get people up and running within a matter 10-15 minutes whether it be by chatting with them on voice comms and pointing them towards a well developed resource.
Also, this is just me, but I donât think itâs cool to volunteer someone else for a suggestion youâve come up unless youâre willing to put in the time and effort yourself to do it.
No it´s not just you⌠but you know⌠everything that takes any kind of effort these days and does not result in max isk/h is a waste of time for most ppl. So it´s only natural that ppl make these kinds of suggestions and passing on the workload to other ppl.
I think thereâs a fairly huge difference between why new players leave the game, and the current struggles of someone who has spent months only living in highsec.
I donât really think itâs appropriate for people to use the issue of newbro retention rates to try and push their own highsec agenda. Unless youâve got some kind of proof that shows newbros are impacted by the exact same problems highsec natives do.
For reference, you can talk about getting wardecâd or ganked all you want. But the numbers show that most new people stop playing within a week. I would be incredibly hard pressed to find a new player who has anchored a structure and gotten wardecâd in that 1 week period.
There is more than enough proof of my statement on these very forums alone. Somebody who is as active as you on the forums hardly can have missed all the posts where ppl are given a solution to certain problems and people just jump in with âbut there is no profit in thatâ.
Pretty much everytime a solution is suggested where teamwork is a solution to their problem, they refuse to accept it with exactly that reason. Because there is no direct profit for them in it.
There might still be exceptions around, but in general the people in EvE these days who are actually willing to sacrifice their own game time for other ppls or their corps benefit is a minority. At the very least that is my pesonal experience and what a lot of posts on these forums reflect.
The only fact you have, is that âanswers on the forum to activities are often disregarded as not making profitâ. Nothing more. However
Most eve players donât go on the forums.
Most people who go on the forum donât want to waste their time with trolls.
Most people who are still willing to spend time only post when doing so would bring something constructive to the forum.
Just because you notice a lot of bad reactions does not mean that most people have bad opinion.
Actually a lot of people I met do not share this stupid âI want to play a video game to be rich within itâ. Greed in a video game burns your soul to ashes. What people should sought instead is social interactions, and the wealth to be able to sustain it.
I know a lot of people who spend their time helping newbros. I give 1B here, 1B there, and they use it for team activities, corporation SRP, a new structure in a WH. They donât get wealth from it. I donât either (Iâm not even blue, they shoot me if I go in the WH).
Sure if you look at the bad people, you can claim âin this sample of bad people, 100% of person are bad peopleâ. But you canât generalize from the common forum troll to the general state of mind of Eve players.
Thatâs the complete opposite of my real experience in the Eve game. I met several social groups and most of them donât care about income. The social activity is more interesting, even if you can make less money than in other activities. Giving money to newbros so they can burn it with you is the usual way to go. Even in âbig blocksâ like PH there are people taking the time for newbros, VNI lending, and the smaller the corporation (in my experience), the more help a newbro can receive.
I totally agree with you that many people answer in stupid ways on the forum, although if itâs their opinion I canât judge it. But donât say people in the game are greedy. Newbros are because itâs difficult. older players are on the opposite eager to help, in the general case.
And maybe you met only bad people in the game. If thatâs the case Iâm sorry for you, it happens.
And Iâm not even bragging. I give back what I received, which was mostly time of other people sharing their knowledge and their enjoyment of the game.
Please edit your previous post (the one I flagged) and add to it âon those forumsâ.
Maybe because you want to have a conversation with the player while they are still in the system ? Or you know exchange a âgfâ or something in local ? Or give them a chance to re-ship nearby and have another round of PvP?
The insult is in claiming that most ppl only play in order to farm more iskies. Where most is not defined nor backed by any data nor has any limit and is thus the same as all .
This is an insult because he claims every single player in eve is driven by greed, except maybe for some rare persons.
Though I agree that many people express opinions close to this one on the forum (yet I donât see greed in them often), generalizing from âmany people on a forumâ to âmost players of eveâ is looking down the complexity of Eve system.
iâve been podded plenty of times by random silent types, small roams and gate campers but never by someone who wanted a ransom. Itâs no big deal either way . I j just find it interesting that I donât run into solo pirates with ransom requests these days. Hopefully they still exist as it was part of the fun of playing in lowsec as opposed to the "mehâ experience of dying to a gatecamp. Possibly there were more people interested in adding a RP element to gameplay once. And yes, Iâm sure there were players who would not honour ransom payments and would pod you regardless.
