Why should I renew my subscription?

I already did a rookieship tourney against players that were largely older than mine, I came out on top despite them being older characters.
Everyone had t2 fittings, and everyone had fun too.

How can you explain that?

Yeah, were they fit exactly the same?

Sorry bro but my experience says the opposite.

Fine by me.
Albeit its dishonest, since SP is required for T2 modules, implants, overheating, drugs etc.
They are part of what makes SP important vs skill.

Then this challenge should be a piece of cake for you.

Do you accept?

I don’t have any low sp toons, nor do I want to make another email address to make one.

Nothing personal

Um, the contest is which is better, more SP’s or experienced skill?

The only way to know for sure is for both parties to be in the exact same ships with the exact same fitting.

You dont have any free character slots?

Do you still believe you could defeat me with a brand-new toon vs my full V?

SP applies to T2 modules, overheating, drugs, implants etc.
They are included in the SP argument vs skill.

Having said that, Im fine with the same fit for both.
(But its not representative of SP in totality then).

I don’t have free slots no.
And I think someone with experience can do anything

That is no excuse. In 2013 a newly empowered CCP Seagull communicated clearly her vision for the game to much excitement and media buzz. Since then, the development direction has become less clear and the future more muddled, and it has got really bad in recent years as measured by metrics like devblogs, dev posts, and top-level updates. There was so little that they were willing/able to share that they even cancelled the o7 show.

The OP asked why he should keep investing financially in the development of a game whose course seems opaque and that has had multiple recent decisions/features released that have been problematic. If CCP can’t communicate to him why he should stay invested in the game or even what they are doing now to make the game better, then why should he give them money if he has alternatives?

So 350+ post later, I guess we have reached a conclusion: he shouldn’t.

Close thread.

Nobody said anything about drugs or overheating.

Doesn’t matter anyway, wouldn’t have changed the outcome in my training engagement when my friend was teaching me PvP tactics, at that time I was fully trained in those skills as well.

SP applies to them, so yes, it matters.

I agree, and that’s up to everyone to decide for themselves.

I’m still confused on this focus that both you and she has specifically on 2013.

Was it really the keynotes regarding new space that has kept you playing for the 5yrs since?

With one condition - you must have no EVE skills. A lot of in game PVP skills with Mastery V is unfair.

We talking here not only about PVP, but overall about EVE which is: hauling, exploration, corporations, fleet commanding, trading. Having max trading skills will not make you better tradesman, until you know economy very well and you know the market of goods and how it’s linked to the actual events in EVE

Have they ever produced information on “the final form”? The plan is, and always has been, a high-level overview. That’s why its called a road map and not a recipe.

Maybe they think people can look at the historical record and see?

Why did you think they would. Especially considering you are complaining about the past 2 years?

You mean like they do every year when they talk about what is to come over the upcoming year? Or, like every Dev blog re: changes in the next week/month?

I only look like a white knight because I use evidence and reason to form opinions instead of letting my moods dictate my perception of reality. Or, at least, the words I write.

Well, when my friend was showing me PvP tactics, we were both flying the same ship, fit with the same mods, in clean jumpclones with no implants or booster usage and we didn’t do any Overheating since he was teaching me basic PvP tactics.

It showed us that in an equal engagement with both pilots having the same exact conditions, higher skillpoints will have an advantage due to making the ship perform better.

SP will make all of that more efficient.

His and Ramiel’s argument was skill matters more than SP.

To test that, it makes sense to run a new toon with little SP, but a skilled PvP players vs a high SP but unskilled PvP player.

They both claim to be skilled PvP players, and state me as an unskilled PvP player.

See what I mean?

Ofc.

But SP is also involved in overheating and other peripheral stats related to PvP.
If you dont have SP, your overheating will suck, you wont have implants and drugs will likely hurt you more than help.

The issue, as Ramiel and Dom falsely claimed, is skill matters more than SP.
But without SP, your stats will suck, you wont have T2 modules/ammo/drones, and can forget about overheating etc.

Hence the challenge, as proof of argument of skill vs SP.

If skills matter more than stats, a pro PvP player with noob SP should be able to beat a non-pro PvPer with full V stats.

So far, nobody has agreed to accept this challenge in favor of skills vs SP, despite claiming to be pvp pros and stating me to be terrible at PvP.

As a non PvPer, with stats at V in all things frigate, I’d fully expect to get my arse handed to me on a plate by an experienced PvPer on a low SP alt if we were using frigates to prove the point, regardless of my ability to pack a full T2 offense and defence.

Skill vs SP - is a vague debate!

In real EVE situation we don’t talk about zero Ability skill vs 5 Ability skill. Even a 1 month player has a set of respective skills trained to level 3 or 4. The difference between level 4 and 5 in most cases is 2%, 3% or 5% of something. It only matters when both players have exactly the same fitted ships and both knowing what they doing. I mean a Suitonia’s Master V Kestrel will always win vs Suitonia’s Mastery IV Kestrel. I mean a Mastery IV Wolf have much better chances vs a Mastery V Retribution and a Mastery V Wolf will mainly lose vs Mastery IV Hawk. I mean the Thermodynamics V vs Therm. IV will not help you, if you don’t have decent solo PVP experience in EVE. Somewhere I read that “to sense the difference between Thermodynamics IV and V requires thousands of destroyed ships behind

Do you expect you will lose to a pro pvp player with a brand-new toon in a corvette, vs you in a full V toon in a corvette?
