Brand new, doubtful because civilian guns are spud guns; a week of specialised SP, definitely.
Unless of course I decide to use one of my pirate rookie ships, then I may stand a chance; but it’s likely to be expensive for me in the end.

You do realize that the “same fitting corvette battle” is a quite dumb example? Simply because it isn’t realistic. Ship choice and ship fittings are also relevant player skills. No drugs and no overheating is another over simplification. I’m pretty sure, most new players wouldn’t even consider those two things, let alone manage them in a combat situation along with cap and reps.
And another thing: no seasoned player would go into any serious battle without training any skills and expect to win. A certain minimum is almost mandatory.
There are multiple things which matter in a fight:
And this is just for 1v1, in normal EVE gameplay there are also:
So yes, SP are a part of this. But it is a tiny tiny amount of what actually matters in EVE and the effect is almost always overrated by new players or players without PvP experience.
You would definitely lose with a full V toon vs a one week specialised SP toon by an experienced PvPer?
Seriously?
Lets test how tiny tiny amount SP matters, as you say.
Fight me with a brand new character vs this toon.
Yes, in 9 years of playing I have been involved in at most 12 PvP fights.
I don’t handle the adrenaline well, so I minimise the risks of getting involved in another explosive event.
Ok.
So you would lose with a full V toon in a corvette, to a toon with one week of SP in a corvette.
Jesus christ, man…
You dont have to have PvPed to know how to lock a target and fire your weapons.
With the V bonuses to your dps alone, you will tear them apart.
I would expect to. I get the jitters, to the point I can’t use my hands.
It’s weird because it doesn’t happen IRL situations, only in the few competitive online games that I play, I suck at close up fights in DayZ and battlefield too, because my hands shake; sniping on the other hand ain’t a problem.
That has nothing to do with skill/knowledge or stats.
Are you so jittery you cant lock a target and open fire?
pretty much
So you play a PvP based game, but you crap your pants so hard you cant even lock a target and open fire, though you have played for 9years, and your opponent only has 1 week of SP vs your full V toon?
Yep, when I play I play because I love the dystopia, chaos is opportunity and there’s more than one way to impose your will on others.
Some want to watch the world burn, I’ll happily sell them the materials to set it on fire and then sit back and enjoy the mayhem.
Losing with a full V toon after 9yrs in EVE to a 1 week SP toon.
That’s just sad.
A one week specialised SP character, in the hands of someone who knows what they’re doing.
Consider it sad if you like, I see no shame in admitting that I’d probably lose to a skilled player.
Losing to a 1 week SP toon in a corvette in your full V toon corvette, is really sad.
I mean you have to leave your keyboard and cower in a corner for that to happen.
Your opinion has been noted, several times. We get it.
Don’t you agree its sad?
All he would have to do, is lock target, open fire (or launch drones) and travel in a random direction. If he can control his shaking hands, maybe set orbit or keep at range.
Nominally these are things an adult EVE player can do.
I’m of a similar skill set to Jonah. I’ve been in a handful of fights, but against a highly skilled and experienced fighter, I don’t fancy my odds, no matter SP I can throw at them.
Being a carebear is sad, they can’t even accept the concept of PvP.
I accept that it’s there, I just don’t partake of it willingly; I don’t begrudge others getting their PvP on, I simply avoid being the person they’re getting it on with. That is my personal PvP.
The risk is the appeal, the actual experience for me at least is bloody awful.
Which shows you dont know whats involved in a 1 week SP toon in a corvette fighting a full V toon in a corvette.
That’s how uninformed you are.
Granted, you might be the only player in EVE that can conceivably lose that fight, because you are waving your hands in shock rather than using them to simply lock target and open fire.
