Why would you sell a character you've played for years?

Character transfers are documented under character info employment tab.

For this game, my definition of skilled gamer is that as long as you have fun playing, you are a skilled gamer. Of course, everyone’s source of happiness in the game is different.

That sounds like a slogan carved on a participation trophy. I think the word you’re looking for is satisfied instead of “skilled” (the latter of which has an actual meaning that differs from what you misuse it for). :wink:

Not necessarily. It seems that characters, like most everything in N.E, are for sale. Some players create new characters, fill them up with skills then sell them and others sell their old redundant characters. With several accounts and two dozen characters, there is always incentives to make some isk.

You can do that, but does it mean you have to? And could you automatically handle a 15yo character without the knowledge required? This game is over 20yo; we new players have no idea what the hell is going on under the hood of this game and the many surprises it holds.

Have you note that frosty had paid more isk for the Aiko frozen treasure than he had done so the day he purchased that Jita trading alt for 6b

The princesses frozen corpse was isk well spent.

Another popular use is to hide, in game to cut ties to all peoples, corps, alliances, etc, and start fresh. Either as a spai, or just to do things differently even.

After a while of living where ships and ammo are just disposable you begin to think everything is, including characters.

Because when you can fly every ship in the game smaller than a Titan, it becomes challenging to choose what to fly. That’s the whole reason I started this character when I came back instead of my 19-year-old alt that can fly everything up to dreads.

Good Question,
I had a character “Roman” I made at game launch in 2003 but like many at the time didn’t understand training so skills were all over the place, wasted skill points galore, there were no guides or Vids back then.
So when SP injectors came I sold him to make a proper character.
Others do it because the changed career paths etc.

Some reasons for selling an old highly skilled character:

  • As others mentioned, if you stop playing and want to give ISK to someone, you sell the character and give the ISK;
  • Re-sale. Buy a character for less, sell it for more.
  • You have that old PvE alt that’s highly trained, but want to try out mining or industry. Both mining and industry scale well with multiple characters. Sell one 200 mil skill points character, buy ten 20 mil skill points characters;
  • You had an alt that you used over the years, but want to lower the time you play the game, simplify your gameplay and enjoy a lot of ISK. Sell the character, take the ISK and let the Omega expire on that account. Now you have your main account with loads of ISK - less time spent grinding, more fun, less expenses.
  • You simply don’t play with that character any more and there is no time in sight when you would play with it again.
  • You need a titan sitter/bridger and a titan. You have a mix skilled high value character. Sell the character to fund your titan.

Cause your toon is an asset like any other items it’s just a tool which you use to operate in this game. If you don’t feel it like something personal with that character cause it’s not really you so there shouldn’t be a problem to switch from one to another alts or either sell one and buy something different without wasting more time on training skills or money with current skills market. CCP has done a great job on upsetting people over the years, so someone left the game even witout give away or selling assets but some decided to adapt and focused on specific things and let the alts go on character market.
Speaking of - “how to play Eve?” That’s really up to you but pretty sure playin on alpha is very limited on what you could do except if you decided to be new Erotica 1 or Somer Blink where you don’t need an Omega ststus for sure.
My personal opinion on how to paly Eve was the time of R’n’K cause i still think that those guys won this game.

Well sometimes by selling a pilot can cause drama!

I would consider selling Aiko for 1 trillion isk.

Not to actually sell Aiko right? Just so you could consider doing something so dramatic!

Only to a certain level then it gets very expensive.
