Well a VR Headset is not really required though it just adds a deeper level of becoming immersed with the surroundings.
Roleplay is a niche and we are greatly interested in learning what Dryson has planned for us within his thread.
The last time I ran into serious RP in an online game was Neverwinter at the Moonstone Mask. That is the local brothel in that city. Players would pop in there and start asking 20 questions about the chat going on in the place. I had a Harper by the name of William Robert Snooks, who would play cards with people there on Sundays. We would sit in chairs and use the Tarokkah cards for our game. We had a dealer and several players. We used the personal chat so as not to annoy the RP crowd. No VR headset needed.
However this game seems more PvP / PvE focused than RP. Most of the local channels are full of spam. Certainly there is no Moonstone Mask equivalent here in Jita?

…to get the soap dispenser working in the cabin you have to watch an ad on the advertisement panel first. It’s for an RP community called “Roleplay is Primary” and they apparently are very old-school: Their comms hub is a Discord server. What a cheesy name, you think to yourself while closing your eyes to enjoy the warm drops of recycled water massaging your skin…

This thread isnt about roleplaying. Besides, roleplaying is escapism from something about yourself that you don’t like, for the most part. You never be anyone other than who you are. If you think you’re a real Capsuleer, you’re not.
Now, back on topic.
I was discussing a Pod based on the virtual machines that people stand up in and play.
That’s a bit sad to read.
Do you have an example of these virtual machines you talk about? I’m not sure what you think about with such brief descriptions.

Instead of the machine being vertical, you would lay in the ring on your back. The ring would be used for left/right movement while the hands, feet and fingers were used for other controls.
Damage inflictors would zap areas of the body based on damage and would be comparable to being shocked with a Tens unit on various settings. The higher setting means more damage is being taken.
