Winter Nexus combat event simply is not worth doing in nullsec

-since its broadcasted for everyone to see where the storms are, pvpers and campers just live in those systems
-then you have to hunt down npcs which may or may not drop the required component to activate harder sites, the whole time in competition with 5-10 other people, all of that spread in checks notes 5-7 systems
-the moment you get in you get scrambled, webbed and neuted by several rats. why not just give frigate rats a titan nuke and smartbombs to end the whole process faster?
-crazy drone aggro, i repeat, crazy, whoever coded that part overdid it massively (i am against passive drone ratting but this is simply bad mechanic, why not simply remove drones completely from the game and rid us and yourself of these problems and frustrations)
-rewards are the saddest part - you expose your ship which is minimum 200-300mil fit for 7-10minutes, all the while being constantly warp scrambled (and neuted from cruisers), and the rewards are an average 30mil (which is totaly unfeasable considering the systems are being raided/monitored constantly). And i am being modest here, because of the webbing, neuting and hardhitting battleship boss you are forced to fly more expensive hulls and more average fits are around 500mil or more.

I do not expect from the game to give me an event which will make me 100mil per 10 minutes but the whole process of just playing the combat site of the event is frustrating so i am simply not doing it.
Its more productive to just farm normal rat sites, not to mention how chilling it is on the gameplay.
It is way way way way more productive to do normal exploration sites rather then the event ones, for that matter.

The solutions i see are one or more of the following:

-limit the amount of scrams the rats do to only 1 OR just let the battleship scram (its easier on the mind to play the game if i know i am only permascrammed for those 1-2minutes while i deal with the battleship instead of the whole 7-10minute process). the event sites scram and neut harder then 10/10 sites….before anyone says, kill the scram rats first, you cant, you have to deal with the neut rats first otherwise say bye bye to your tank capacity

-remove the neuting, that is just overdoing it or limit it to one rat per site (its not even lore accurate…)

-increase the star system size that gets the storm by at least 1, preferably would be 2

-if you actually enter the stronger version of the site, the site should not be accessible to anyone who is not in the fleet

-any new person/ship that enters the site should be instatargeted by the rats, that would provide some peace of mind, if you can treat drones like that, why not other players?

-i am not for increasing the loot rewards, i am for balancing the rats in the space because the whole process is just not worth the risk considering the measly rewards

If you were better, you could farm more efficiently.

ma brother Aiko read the whole text in 2 seconds and just concluded that i need to get better.

i guess thats why people say to just avoid official forums….

bro, this aint twitter, there is no point in collecting likes and posting replies.

There’s also no point in whining and complaining just because you think it’s too challenging to grind for isk/hr.

If there were no point in complaining we would still have drones being the most favorable way or ratting, no local chat in nullsec and lowsec being completely useless.

your replies, there is no point in them.

You might also argue that people telling you to get good are why the game hasn’t been dumbed down further. Obviously, not everybody agrees with you.

i just checked General discussion, you are commenting under each and every topic with vague and useless replies.

Here brother, i will give you a like on each reply you did, i know it means the world to you.

Hello, Citizen  This event is doing exactly what the sandbox is meant to do: create visible hotspots that concentrate risk, competition, and player interaction. Broadcasting storm locations and stacking pressure through harsh site mechanics isn’t accidental friction, it’s intentional design to force awareness, preparation, and choices. You’re not meant to run these sites in isolation or comfort, you’re meant to feel exposed, contested, and vulnerable in shared space.
The tough rats, heavy scrams and neuts, and modest rewards reinforce a core EVE principle: not everything is about ISK efficiency. Normal ratting and exploration remain the chill, reliable options, while events are disruptive by design, trading safety and predictability for tension and experience. It may not be the most profitable path, but it’s very much on-brand for EVE.
Be well :victory_hand:

It seems like CCP ran out of time for the Winter Nexus event. And understandably so. All in all it was a pretty good year for EVE content. And things can get even better.

I see.

Players are the only risk we face in this game, and you don’t like that players are interrupting your nullsec isk printing. You don’t want to play Eve, you want to play an Eve like game where you have zero risk.

Hi Misty, thank you for a rare normal replay.

I agree with most of what you said, i have no delusions, this is a pvp game and nullsec isnt carebear teritorry. If i could run those sites 24/7 without any fear of anything, i wouldnt play the game because it wouldnt be challenging.
That being said, i believe you are completely wrong on the ISK efficiency principal. Most of the game is about it. That is why we progress and level up, that is why production and consumption exists. If the ISK efficiency is heavily skewed into being 100% ISK deficient, you simply will not do that action.
HINT HINT that is why they increased the loot rewards in nullsec in todays patch but the loot rewards were never the problem.
The start of the process and whole process was. The loot (the end of the process) was never the problem.

Do you see?

Because i mostly dont like the fact im being scrammed for 3-6 points from rats and neuted to hell.
Sure i could take out a marauder or heavy bling battleship and not worry about neuting but for what? Less rewards then that you get doing exploration?
Math doesnt add up.

Show me where CCP said you’d make more isk doing these events?

Go back to your AFKtar if you want to make more isk. If you want something different to do, do the events.

This isn’t difficult for most people to figure out, except for carebears.

People who play for isk are always the same. Endless complaining and whining without end, why doesn’t CCP listen to them!!!

CCP could add a free titan on every day of daily rewards, and these people would still complain cuz they had to log in and collect all the titans.

That’s fair, and I think we’re actually closer in opinion than it looks. ISK efficiency absolutely matters in EVE, nobody willingly farms content that is permanently ISK-negative, and CCP clearly agrees given today’s changes. My point wasn’t that efficiency is irrelevant, but that it isn’t only about the payout at the end — if the process itself is overly punishing or frustrating, no amount of loot fixes it. Risk is good, pressure is good, but when the path to the reward feels stacked against the player rather than demanding mastery, people simply opt out, and that’s where the real issue is.

That is very eloquently put, i wish i could have made such sentences but english aint my main language.

”if the process itself is overly punishing or frustrating, no amount of loot fixes it. Risk is good, pressure is good, but when the path to the reward feels stacked against the player rather than demanding mastery, people simply opt out, and that’s where the real issue is.”
This above is the crux of the matter and if a CCP Dev reads anything, i wish it was this sentence then my whole explanation from the start.

Thank you. English isn’t my main either but I have studied it for lots of years and Everybody speaks it at work. And if I really get stuck between words and thoughts I can always get help from my trusted A.I

Please, you’re going to make me blush
