Again, it doesn’t matter how much the ore in Exordium is worth. If players can mine and make ISK in 100% safety, they are going to do exactly that. Even if the amount is much smaller than in areas of high sec, that is still billions of ISK being created daily with absolutely zero loss…
Just ask players of EVE Echoes where that ends up, especially if the concept of Exordium and “safe spaces” gets expanded at some point…
No, they won’t. Most EVE players live in High sec. Do they want to venture out into the “real world” of low and null? Nope. So, if you create an area for them that is even safer than high sec, that is where they are going to go…
If I offered you a job that pays $100 dollars an hour, but there is the chance of you getting shot at and killed every single day, or $10 dollars an hour but you get to earn it in perfect safety 24/7 for eternity, which do you think most are going to choose?
This has been a bizarre discussion (not just this thread). I say FC won’t have time to police Exordium - everyone insists otherwise. When I say anything extracted from the “safe” zone will be a drop in the bucket - everyone says, well - this is the tip of the iceberg. Then I point out that FC will supposedly police this. And we’re back to square one again…
I think the biggest mistake wasn’t Exordium - but pumping all this time, money and resources into Frontier and Vanguard. To the tune of probably $50-$70m…
Am I an immortal clone in a video game played by a person who has a job and a mortgage and responsibilities and finite time to log into the video game?
Your thesis is basically, “People don’t value their time at all, actually,” and that is obviously untrue.
And now we have safe spaces. Like I said, give’ em an inch and they’ll take a mile. So yes, it’s just the tip of the iceberg. Once you give in, they will want even more…
You understand my point though. They keep caving to the whiners and, eventually, when they have caved enough times EVE will no longer be EVE. It’s already well on it’s way…
Yet it’s still effectively the same game 20+ years later, just different people playing. Even all these small changes (called balancing) hasn’t been enough to fundamentally change the game.
