Wondering how many "mega multis" will be heading to Exordium to avoid ganks

I wonder how long it will take for someone to post Geneva Conventions here.

I wonder how long it will be until this will be closed.

I argue that if your feelers are being hurt by a video game, you need to take a step back from that video game.

Every day I am telling people in help channels to not get attached to their space ships. They are ammo. You’re at war with every other player at all times. Even the people you call your friends. Maybe even especially the people you call your friends.

Morality does not apply to games. If it did, there would never be the bad guy/gal for you to want to beat. Everyone would try to be the white knight, which means nobody would be the white knight. Games are games, they are not real. You are pretending every time you log into a video game, no matter which ones.

Applying morality to video games is like hating an actor because they pretended to be an evil character. Do you judge actors and actresses as evil and vile due to the characters they pretend to be for a short time? Normal people don’t.

You suspend reality, you pretend to be something you are not.

It is a fundamental truth of this video game, why does it need to be explicitly stated? You know game mechanics, so you know what I am saying is correct.

Concord does not protect you. They kill criminals.

Faction Police do not protect you, they kill people that have low enough standing.

There is no safety in this video game except the corp and alliance named Safety.

I don’t think you understand what I mean about Morality and video games.

I’m not saying that everyone is a good guy. Take a look at the News m8, there are people there who are not the good guys every day.

What I am saying is, don’t kid yourself and think that you can act any way you want and then just justify it by saying its a video game. You wanna do bad things. Guess what your char is a bad guy.

People upset because you killed them in a place that is “thought of” by the majority of the people in that place as a safe space. congratz, you are the bad person. as I had stated earilier

well if it was such a fundamental truth as you say it is, then it should be explicitly stated numerous times

Why?

Learning that truth is part of the learning curve. Video games are not a new thing and neither is this one. Some people try to attribute real life standards to a video game.

It’s a game. It’s not real. You are not your character. You are playing as something you are not. It is pretend.

Do you mean real life?

Of course there are bad people in real life. How does that change or effect a video game?

you serious?

There arse holes all around. I’m not mad at you for being an Arse hole in game, just admit it and move on

well you keep saying its a fundamental truth.

sounds more like an opinion. your opinion and others

How does an action in game equate to real life? That is the conversation, not whether you like what someone does.

Morality judgments have no bearing on a game. It is a game, it is not real. Being a pirate in a video game is being something that you are not in real life. It is pretend.

an opinion of others?

A fundamental truth of this video game is not an opinion of others. This is a pvp-centric video game.

“PvP is a core element of the EVE Online experience and provides a crucial portion of the cycle of creation and destruction that drives New Eden’s economy.”

Is that explicit enough?

I love this. Reminds me of pseudo-intellectuals, who whine for scientific evidence all the time.

Imagine how oblivious must have ancient civilisations been, having no awariness of sun, just because they didin’t measure it empirically. If only there was some other way… Like simple observation by using your eyes.

That solves a lot of problems. You know, a tree doesn’t exist unless you heard it fall, right?

A fundamental truth exists independently of our observation, let alone some written repetition. In philosophy and logic, truth is categorized by its simple existance in the world, rather than the frequency of someone stating it.

EVE is, by design, a PvP game. Developers literally added mechanics just for that. You observe this fundamental truth or … not. But your observation doesn’t change the game itself, does it?

Trying to tie morality into this is just next level of gaslighting…

Through roleplay though right?

agreed to a point. But here you are Not in the video game vehemently fighting for the “right” of high sec gankers. But i will also stick to my original reply:

It may be, But, that was not the question I asked you. I agree that PvP is a core element. What I do NOT agree with is that:

You are saying this is “a fundamental truth” yet offer nothing to back it. And this goes Well beyond my thread and back to the original debate of high sec gankers in the first place.

A lot of posturing your doing, but in all, we are not talking about obvious things like a Tree or the Sun. we are talking about divergently vague concepts and point of views people are having.

wow! gaslighting. What? you gonna hit me with DARVO Tactic next?

To a point. But i also stick with my original reply to a previous post:

This forum is directly related to the video game we are discussing. I am not a pirate on this forum or in game. Nobody else is a pirate on this forum.

You’re playing mental gymnastics for some sort of one up but you’re not accomplishing your goal.

A fundamental truth does not need to be advertised or published. It is common understanding. Such as gravity. You know it exists, but who is telling you each and every day that it exists and what can happen if you jump off a building? Yet it is a fundamental truth that you will splat on the ground after said jump unless you have a method to stop you from going splat.

You are being intentionally obtuse, for reasons I do not know or care to know.

This is a pvp-centric video game and has been communicated through multiple forms.

Sigh.

we are not enemies. And I just want the answer m8

I commented on one statement and presented arguments towards one concept. Idk, maybe that’s too much.

I’m not familiar with that, so no, I guess.

Does this applies to bad guys in movies too?

if bad guys in movies go out of their way in real life to hurt someone in a game and the game penalizes you. . .you are a bad person.

But if a movie penalizes you, then you’re still not a bad guy? So what’s the difference between a game and a movie…?

It was A LOT of Words

well in a movie ALL are actors and actresses know the situation and agree to it beforehand. So they both know what’s going to happen and what not. And they get paid rather well to make the audience believe the scene. But in the end, none of the movie stars are upset of the outcome.

Its different in a game. Now would you want me to go through how its different in the game?

Right, all have a role to play.

You don’t have to, I’m good. I don’t really get the point you’re trying to make here either way… Cheers.

Yes, we are.

You have been answered multiple times by multiple people yet you persist with your asinine manipulations.
Tell me, do you see signs all over telling you that gravity exists? Everywhere you go?

No, I wonder why. Afterall, fundamental truth, according to you must be written down and displayed everywhere at all times.

Well said!

It’s almost like Darquies Shade thinks he will change reality just by asking over and over and over for proof of a fundamental truth that he not only knows but everyone else does as well. With the exception, possibly, of new players. Though, this game is over 20 years old so I have to keep wondering how it is anyone is joining eve online and not know a single thing about it.

So who is going out of their way in real life to hurt people in this video game?

You are fundamentally wrong. We are talking about a video game, not real life. Nothing in a video game is real. It is pixels and data. If someone chooses to be emotionally hurt due to pixels in a pvp-centric video game, they have problems that I am not qualified to help with.

Oh boy could I refer you to dozens maybe even hundreds of articles about actors and actresses upset about what they were paid to do and decided after being paid that they didn’t like it.
