[YC 119 New Eden Writing Contest - Poetry entry] "Loner"

“Loner”

I’m a roamer
Loner
Trying to find a place for me
Among the vast expanse
Finding out maybe I can’t
Just a roamer
A loner, covered in so many scars
I look dirty in the mirror
But I just want to find a place where no one minds

I used think all that matters was your duty
Flying all day never mattered, it’d suit me
But days end, turn to nights, you lose the light
It funny how when you’re in the darkness that’s when you fight
With your body and soul because all you see is your flaws
You stop pursuing victories, start settling for draws
I think I’ve gone too far
So I’m coming home
I just want to go back to the times when I was young

I’m a roamer
Loner
Trying to find a place for me
Among the vast expanse
Finding out maybe I can’t
Just a roamer
A loner, covered in so many scars
I look dirty in the mirror
But I just want to find a place where no one minds

A constant cycle of fights and mistakes
Warping again, acceleration gate
There used to be people next to me, but all that’s left is me
Am I the only one that’s trying to rendezvous with destiny?
The things I loved are ruined but I can’t stop this run
Even though I’ve lost my interest and nothing’s still fun
I’m trying to fly into the sun
I’m going home
I want to go back to how it all was before

I’m just a loner, roaming
