Yield comparison of the new mining ships

Homefronts get multiboxed a ton. A Very easy way to limit this is by having goals be in different systems and timed, so a “bring me 3 of these times that are all several jumps away in different locations, you have X minutes to complete”. And “bring” could be mine, salvage, hack or whatever else where each of those requires 2 people.

Multiboxing itself is already high-APM, they won’t be able to fully benefit from high-APM content while multiboxing as well.

And botters… just report them and let CCP ban them.

Multiboxing will thrive as long as ISK buys Omega—focus on improving gameplay for regular players instead of frustrating them with anti-multibox mechanics.

Rewarding attentive miners does both though. It improves gameplay for regular players without ‘frustrating’ them and is relatively more advantageous for them than for multiboxers.

But this is all off topic, as there don’t seem to be any of such mechanics in the upcoming Catalyst update.

Have you noticed he just repeats his stereotype sentences? That char was simply created for trolling a day ago.

He is a new alt of someone that smells familiar and also talked in that way, was some months ago… don’t recall his name, since he didn’t contribute anything of value to discussions and disappeared soon after. Someone that also was clueless and had no arguments.

I suspect they may be tired of the mute on their previous alt.

Do you remember Mr Epeen?

He used to spend a lot of time here…

The forum feels like an echo chamber with little constructive input—maybe that’s why participation has dropped. I’d like to help change that.

By trolling a thread about yield comparisons between upcoming new mining ships?

No. I will avoid engaging with trolls and having them drag down an otherwise constructive conversation

Good luck with that! Could you do it in the appropriate place though?

Great job @Gerard_Amatin with the comparison and tables. I added some commentary in the Level 4 Mining Mission megathread, but I will repeat it here.

The Pioneer is definitely a nice upgrade for Alphas, both in yield, staying power, and survivability. The handiest thing for me is the ability of the Pioneer to complete Level 2 mining missions (as Alpha) in one trip. The two best missions, Mercium Belt and Unknown Events bulk out at 6000 m3, or two trips for a Venture Alpha.

Another handy niche for Pioneer is for the Level 4 mission Like Drones to a Cloud. This is combination gas huffing/light combat mission. It requires a Venture, barge, or friends to complete as some DPS is required. The Pioneer will chew through this mission easily with its better drone DPS and tank.

Outrider seems interesting enough, though I wish it could actually fit ice lasers.

Odysseus seems like an amazing ship. I immediately saw a very niche use for this ship as an inter-regional gas arbitrage hauler. Gas arbitrage with freighters and DSTs is asking for trouble in Uedama, while Ody can carry 50k m3 of gas with a covert cloak. The payback time would be long if this was the sole use but the case is there. It would also be an amazing hi-sec solo gas explorer/huffer.

Can it not fit ice lasers? It has three turret slots. It may not have bonuses to ice lasers, but I don’t see why it cannot mine ice.

Oh, I see now:

I’d love to see the Outrider be able to mine ice too. This seems like an oversight.

Good reminder that currently only expedition frigates, barges and exhumers can mine ice. I’ve updated the table.

@Gerard_Amatin I also concur with the oversight part. The Ice skill itself requires Omega, as such I never understood why Ice Mining Lasers are “ship-gated”. If I’m Omega and want to install two ice lasers (unbonused) on a Venture with a 5-block capacity hold, I should be able to do so. On that same bent I would love it if Outrider could do ice mining. It would literally become the ultimate Level 4 mining mission platform.
