It is a reasonable theory. Though I have not seen any official statement that “this is the case” merely “we are looking in to it” or something along those lines, such as the start of this thread.

With the apparent severity of the DDoS attacks, it makes sense that a severe response would be needed. However that it’s being so detrimental - IF that is indeed what is happening - it begs the question is this the appropriate avenue to take. The DDoS’ers have likely moved on, for now, leaving the Company to punish players who are simply wanting to enjoy the game they… or someone that bought the PLEX they bought with ISK… paid money to play.

Using what little of Biology I can remember, it’s much like a Mother’s body reacting to the Embryo as if it was a Virus.

All traffic to tranquility is being routed through siteproectec.security.neustar which is the company ccp hired to mitigate the ddos attack. So I’m guessing…

Or, you know, a ship jumping in to Lowsec and then the Pilot DC’ing. That’s a pretty good example, too.

Truth!

Yes it looks like an overreaction. Instead of blocking the culprit some connections are getting rejected on a wide front

Once again, I can confirm it is possible to connect just by changing country of origin

what vpn provider are you using?

I’m sure the pieces are so small my ship can’t even be identified!

FWIW - my pilot was named “Mustafa Ataturk”.

This workaround doesn’t work for me. And truth is, I don’t have to wherewithal to download a third party VPN software just to log in to some other region’s server (port/gateway/whatever). The only thing that will get me to re-subscribe at this point is an official, fully transparent posting from CCP on what exactly has been going on these past six days and why (more than just “we had a DDOS attack and we worked to fix it”), and what action will be taken against the perpetrators (if ever identified), and what steps will be taken to prevent similar meltdowns.
This isn’t sour grapes, it’s just feedback on what your customer’s will probably need in order to regain trust.

I have this problem, but from VPN i can join on server.

I dont advice for using VPN, just mentioning it because VPN working -without changing anything else - suggests a regional block on server side.

See you caused it… your hogging all the server resources with all of the information of individual particles the server is trying to disperse to everyone else’s clients.

So is the only official word from CCP to click connect after it fails to log you in?

Would neustar refund ccp?
