Day 1 of DDOS attack - CCP tried the same techniques that have worked in the past.
Day 2 - CCP tried several work arounds which obviously failed.
Day 3 - CCP turned to a third party who rerouted all traffic through a screening server
Day 4 - Third party working on identifying good vs bad IP addresses and routing all but chat ports.
Day 5 - Third party routing chat and gaming ports for known good IPs but still passing traffic through the screening servers which are also seeing the DDOS traffic.
Day 6 (today) - 70% of players are ok for the most part, but some still haven’t been identified as good and the traffic is still heavy causing some lag issues for all.
There is nothing wrong with your firewalls and whatnot.
Hopefully the third party working with CCP can identify the root cause of the DDOS and come up with a patch for players systems, maybe include a routing table to route legit players to a different set of servers or ports for logging in.
still cant login, filed a support ticket, was told by a GM that they cant fix it any time soon, i even tried this got in for 1min the crashed, kept trying, keeps crashing
@Copper_Rei, how to let CCP know that I am a real customer, instead of the person behind the DDoS attack?
At first, I think they can at least identify people who have brought PLEX from them with real money. But apparently that is not the case. On twitter, some people say they would unsubscribe because they can’t log in.
If you choose to file a support ticket, please include your IP address so they can add it to a list for re-routing.
They need your public IP.
You can use IP chicken or any of the sites that give you your public IP. https://whatismyipaddress.com/
If you are seeing an IP that begins with 192. then that is not your public IP.
The fact that most regions can log in while certain regions are getting boned by the routing service they’re using shows why CCP’s “we dun gettin DDOSd guysy” response is unacceptable at this point. Obviously TQ is not being hammered right now, and whatever solution they’re using is screwing a sizable portion of the playerbase. Going on a week, with no real response from CCP, has convinced me to finally let the rest of my subs lapse. Already dropped half my accounts during cHaOs ErA fiasco due to their lack of vision, but this shows they’re not learning anything about communication. I miss the old CCP; they had their issues, but at least they seemed to care about community.
What worked for me in this situation, is on the menu you are looking for a tab that has the option to ‘Reset your Cache’ or something along those lines. You will need to restart the launcher, potentially the game, but after doing that, my chat problems were fixed.
Being able to stay logged in long enough after undocking, that’s a different situation.
After two days of being blocked access from my home ISP I was able to successfully log in using a VPN connection and a second time through my neighbour’s provider. Given my neighbour’s provider and mine use the same network infrastructure but different IP ranges it looks like my range has been blocked
At least I can log in for a bit and fuel my structures now. Thankful for small things.
Some of you guys are going to have bad withdrawals when the Sun flares out a Massive Coronal Ejection and fries all electronics / electrics on earth with the EMP. EvE is indeed an enjoyable game, but a few days without it and some start acting like junkies mugged and dropped on a desert island.
