2 Years of Faction Grind (Standing 7.0+) about to be wasted by a COSMOS bug and CCP Support’s "Deprecated Content" excuse. Need help!

Thats called piracy. Its a well known mechanic thats deeply engraved into this game.

Your anger has completely sucked the last bit of logic you owned. What in the world have you been doing in this game if you think that.

Oh, and you misspelled “competitive.”

The moment women starts to assume a man’s emotions (or even worse, feel the need to nitpick his spelling) she’s basically done.

What in the world have you been doing in this game if you think that.

I just told you. Defanging ships. What you call piracy, we simply called vandalism. Seal-clubbing. Newb-grinding. There’s no art to it at all. Fine then. Regard yourself a pirate all you want - I certainly do not. Professionals have standards.

Reality? I am not the one RP-ing the forums of an obscure 20 year old MMO. :joy: I am not pretending though. I’m just not telling you the thing. Figure it out yourself, Aiko.

I beg your pardon sir, i am a professional flower giver in this game…and i take offence of being called unprofessional in that regard.

My support of the proper piracy, vandalism, and seal clubbing doesnt make me a bad person at all. It has opened my eyes to a new dawn….a dawn of passing the righteous good and beautiful flowers for those that have endured loss because they failed to educate themselves.

I have found my calling here in our spectroverse. When you finally accept what youre really meant for then you to shall receive a beautiful bouquet from me.

May you learn the ways of the righteous.

He’s just lashing out at all of us, simply because he is bad at EvE Online.

He doesn’t sound like he’s angry or hating on anybody. He just has a different approach to the game than by far most of the people who play EVE. Which is fine. We’re all different in different ways. It doesn’t mean he’s sitting there fuming at others. I remember the times it was met with openness to meet and talk to someone who had a different viewpoint or approach to something everybody else saw in a tunnel-vision kind of way. It doesn’t invalidate other approaches. And sometimes it’s good to pause or take a step back and get out of your box, even if just for an experiment.

I’m not implying anything about you in particular, though. So, don’t take it like that.

He calls everyone who PvPs an asshole and equates doing so to stealing candy from a baby, and is even being sexist towards a woman handing out flowers.

I mean, you’re being very generous if you call that “different” and that we have to broaden our perspective to get it. Personally, I would just call it problem behavior. Do you like enabling that sort of thing? Just asking out of curiosity, I want to broaden my horizons!

With clear regards

‘‘Everyone’’? Or just some?

I will always stand up for anybody to speak their mind freely, as long as it isn’t intended to be hurtful and offensive as an end in itself.

I am also not picking up on the tone of anger from his posts that others seem to. It is possible to argue with someone, disagree with them, and still be calm.

Be fair. He didn’t have a problem with her handing out flowers. You stitched together two non-contiguous parts of the exchange there.

If we’re fair:

Inxentas was misochynistic before flowers were even mentioned and acted sexist as an ad-hominem merely because the character of Christine is a woman.

It surprised me and not in a good way.

What do you mean “be fair”? You can see what he wrote, right? You can see all his snide remarks and bad faith arguments too, right? You’re excusing that by saying that he has a different way to express himself, and you want to urge us to be more open to his perspective and carefully consider his opinion.
After all that? No thanks!

If somebody wants to argue in good faith, people here will notice, and that effort will be reciprocated. And you can do that without throwing entire groups of people under the bus!

With fair regards

I don’t think we need to have a debate or not over whether this guy is bitter, snide, condescending, and generally disagreeable. However, since we seem to be wasting our time on that, I’ll agree with those who have this view.

I also don’t think there’s any reason to tolerate every viewpoint. Once somebody starts describing ganking as “stealing candy from a baby” or “noob grinding”, it’s pretty clear they are not arguing in good faith, and they do the game a disservice by pretending ganking is a form of griefing. In my experience, anyone who thinks ganking is “easy” is also somebody who has no experience. In this case, Inxentas has very few kills in Highsec, and ironically what he has are wardec kills against EUni. I can’t respect a hypocrite who calls gankers griefers, when he was the one harassing new players. At least gankers have to deal with CONCORD!

This is what “noob grinding” looks like:

Bro dropped a fleet on an Ibis. He should be ashamed of himself.

Here’s a good one:

Why is it acceptable for hypocrite Inxentas to drop Tech II ships on a barge, without CONCORD intervention, but it’s griefing and harassment and low skill to kill that same target with Tech I ships and against CONCORD? That doesn’t seem very consistent! It’s worth noting that CCP removed his gameplay precisely because it was noob farming, whereas our gameplay has not been removed.

It’s also noteworthy that Inxentas hasn’t played the game in 4-5 years. Why is he here harassing new players like James Fuchs?

I don’t want anyone to want to do anything other than stay true to what they think and express that. You completely misread my sentence on that part. I said I remembered when people were more open to differences. That was a general statement I made. Call it nostalgia, although it’s not quite an adequate term to describe it. Nowadays there is less of it, especially online, where people tend to a, let’s say, 2D approach to arguing with someone. That is a fact. Across the internet, across many different online communications. I am not saying you or anyone in particular is doing that, don’t read it into this.

I see some of it. If you check the thread you can see I am not involved in this topic much, this was the first time I posted here at all. I’ve read parts, not all posts. I would have to go and read the whole 155 replies, and I’m really not that invested in this topic. I reacted to people calling him angry where I saw no angry response. I think that is unfair yes, as – like I said above – it is possible to argue with people and be calm at the same time. Just disagreeing with someone does not make a person angry. Can you please read my posts correctly yourself?

I will not continue to argue this point ad infinitum.

I think what has happened generally, on the internet and on this forum, is people have realized that some individuals argue endlessly and in bad faith. Consequently, there is much less tolerance for those who want to debate, as their trolling is disruptive and wastes everyone’s time. They are arguing to argue, not to learn. As it turns out, most people reject free speech, and for good reason!

With repeat offenders that’s understandable. I haven’t seen Inxentas post endless nonsense threads or go from thread to thread just to rile people up though. Have you? There are such forum members yes, some so annoyingly everpresent and predictable with their nonsense that it’s difficult to defend their right to free speech, mostly Swing Vote and his alts (not that I’m trying to summon that demon up here now).

I’ve seen some inappropriate behavior from him, yes.

Maybe you should ‘‘punish’’ him then? Who knows where that might lead

My flying monkeys are already on it.

Meridan Night, you’ve got it right. James is misreading, a bit consistently at that. To my own mind I’ve concretely expressed the difference between what I consider PVP (ship-to-ship combat, regardless of ship role) and stealing candy before running away like a coward. I do indeed break with the idea that peoples actions do not reflect on them as a human being, as I am convinced Eve players tell each other this just to cope while being rightfully thought of as a prick. While it’s certainly outdated, anyone checking my KB can verify…

He calls everyone who PvPs an asshole

…that I PVP as a main activity. Sigh. The way in which a player does that, simply matters to me. James expresses no desire to broaden his perspective to “get it”, but that’s his prerogative. That also means he’s stuck with the interpretation that he already had, which is that I am angry. I most certainly am not, but I can imagine that someone reasons that I should be. Tone of voice, maybe.

Do you like enabling that sort of thing?

You merely posted your opinion. Me being the subject thereof. But how can I interpret a question like that, other then it being annoyingly accusatory? And perhaps he’s right, there have been some sexist elements in my posts. That’s mostly because the “barrage of accusatory questions” style of communication is a well know feminist strategy. Admittedly that annoys me a little, but not nearly enough to be considered angry.
