i went through this with everquest a few years ago they will close the server for 2 weeks lick there wounds and give us free game time
i was lucky, i only lost 2 Ogre II … and not my entire rattlesnake =w= + my mission which i have is now completely bugged, cant warp to it waits for ticket respond =w=

They had a Undelete command going back to Dos 5.xx too I think, so it was more like 30+ years ago.
Today Windows writes over drives so often (and for little to no reason) that undelete and unformat don’t yield great results. At least in a *nix system you can turn it off, pull the drive, and recovery the files (tho, probably not make it boot again without reinstall)…

I think you’ll find that CCP is bringing the servers back up gradually and letting a few '000 on at a time.

MSDOS (which is the most popular) is a real OS, because its basically theftright of CP/M the dominant OS for home computer back in the 80s
I don’t even remember the last time I used DOS. Not being able to recover accidentally deleted files is a terrible OS design flaw
BTW many people are able to connect if you just restart your computer.

You’re far more likely to be able to recover a deleted file on Linux than Windows. Look up ‘photorec’ and associated tools.
I remember MSDOS - going back to 2.11. Do you? Also DR DOS and several others. I’ve been a sysadmin for 30 years. Take several seats.

Log in, launch game. Before character select, press ESC and go to settings, reset cache, restart.
You may want to restart computer as well after this.
