This thread is a Virgin Media routing problem being discussed here. I have multiple corpmates on Virgin Media and we all drop together at exactly the same time when it happens… We just go “oop it happened again” in comms and everyone drops at the same exact second. Meanwhile our other corp mates in the UK who are on different ISP’s do not drop when we do, ever.
This specific problem in this thread is definitely tied to VM specifically.
I willlet you know, but it seems more stable already, as been connected (although not doing anything today) for several hours with no DC. Also had a few hours yesterday missioning yesterday no disconnects
It does feel like it may be a little more stable, but the problem is still there. I had at least 6 or 7 DC’s yesterday and a couple today, and I wasn’t even logged on for most of the afternoon. Still more than enough DC’s for it to be dangerous actually doing much ingame though.
The most annoying part I find is that VM has not commented on the matter or offered an update other than to say they are looking into it. and that was three days ago…
We opened a ticket with Cloudflare today to get more eyes on this issue. We haven’t had an update from Virgin Media / Liberty Global since this morning, when they told us they couldn’t see any issues. I’m trusting I should interpret that, that they couldn’t yet see anything wrong and would continue to investigate.
Exactly this; we see this clearly in metrics that the disconnects are synchronous and in support tickets that only Virgin Media users are affected. I’m hoping that timing of these disconnect spikes will lead Virgin Media to find the issue.
Not according to our metrics or technical support. There was some noise in the metrics for German players overnight on the 23rd and again this morning (as in between 1 and 5 o’clock UTC) but fairly clean apart from that and nothing like the regular spikes at Virgin Media.
Thanks. I just wondered but looks pretty much the same.
Appreciate the time and effort you are putting into this, and hopefully the Cloudflare ticket gets somewhere, as I don’t have a lot of faith in Virgin Media doing much more than they already have.
Thought things were looking better, and then all accounts DC’d simultaneously. Also, a Corp member had the same issue at the same time, same ISP. VM Quality at it’s best it seems.
I hope Cloudflare may have some interesting insight on their end.
When I was experiencing disconnects, a while ago, similar to these reported here in the sense that the connection was flawlessly otherwise working, the last two hops on the route before TQ, the ones reaching LINX, were changing for a brief period and that always caused the disconnects, even though it shouldn’t necessarily mean such a change does. A MTR running in the background confirmed that repeatedly. Too bad MTR doesn’t actually store historical information and aggregates things, but it can still be observed actively.
Also, during such issues, a MTR on the route back can give useful insights.
Yes, there was a DC at 7.56 pm… first one for a few hours. Pretty sure we had one about the same time the day before too after 3-4 hours without, but most likely a coincidence.
Not had a mail problem myself.
I don’t believe being docked or undocked makes a difference. These DC’s happen to us all at the same time, regardless of where we are in game. I think it sometimes just feels like you get DC’ed as soon as you try to do something.
I got a VPN and was playing for the last 3h without being DC. When I try to play without VPN DC are happening. I hope VM are doing something as we shouldn’t be paying for VPN and VM shouldn’t provide a service that’s not up to scratch.
